SOURCE: Tire Change on 2006 Ford Explorer

Kick the tire. Not only will it make him feel better, but it should come off. The center of the wheel is probably a tight fit where it fits on the 'hub' (where the brakes and wheel bearings are located. Kick the tire near the outer edge, continue all around 'til it comes off. Please let me know how you make out. countrycurt0

SOURCE: tire stuck/lug nuts removed

use 3lb sledge on inner edge of rim be careful not to damage rim rubber mallet won't provide enough shock to loosen rust. ps leave one lug nut on so tire won't fly off.

SOURCE: Can not remove lug nut caps 2003 x -type jaguar

I have an 04 xj8. the lug nuts are a good bad example of half baked engineering. the lug nuts are fabricated from ugly steel with an 11/16 hex end. to beautify this, Jaguar overlays the nut end with a stainless steel 3/4 inch cap, crimped to the nut. On top of this, the nut is to be torqued to 90+ ft-lb! The only way to remove the lug nut without damage is with a SIX POINT socket and a breaker bar or an impact wrench. Using a 12 point socket will deform the cap, causing the wrench to spin on the cap and or the cap to spin on the nut itself. If that has happened, it is possible to recover using a 15 oz or thereabouts ball peen hammer and a deep 3/4 inch impact socket (the black ones). Line up the socket to the cap, doing a best guess to where the flats are and give the socket a light blow. Keep trying that until the socket seems to stick on, then hit it harder. Eventually you will find the right point and the socket will go on and reform the cap. Then a breaker bar can remove the cap/nut. New assemblies can be had for about $6 from "partsbin" or "autohausaz".

SOURCE: Can not remove rear tires after removing lug nuts, wheels are jamed onto hub.

spray pentrating oil around where wheel meets hub and also around lug bolts let set for about 15 min then take a sledge hammer and hit from underneath make sure the truck is blocked up good for safty
if that doesnt work take a small sissor jack between the rim and the fram and put a lot of pressure on it then hit it with the sledge from underneath

Remove the tire and the brake drum. Get a big hammer and smack it out. Put in the new one, draw it in with the lug nut. Put brake drum back on, put tire back on, fixed.

Can not remove front tire, all lug nuts removed tire will not come off

Wheels will seize on from time to time. Whast usually works is to give the rim a sharp whack with a hammer between the studs. Do every space around the rim and do it 3-4 times. that will usually free them up. Or you can hit it from the inside. Spin the tire and hit it from the inside as it turns until it lets go. The last resort would be to heat it from the front between the wheel studs. You would need torches for that because propane won't get it hot enough. Hope this helps.

How do i change the back tire

Find the jack and jack up the rear just in front of the rear tire you are changing. (don't lift off ground completely yet). Using the lug wrench (also called a tire iron) break loose each lug nut.

Finish raising the vehicle just high enough that the tire isn't touching the ground. Finish removing the lug nuts, then pull tire off. Put new (different/spare) tire on, and put the lug nuts back on, and tighten by hand until tire is snug. With the car still raised, lightly tighten the lug nuts, until snug again (by use of lug wrench).

Lower car completely and tighten the lug nuts again (do not over tighten). At all points of tightening lug nuts, do so in a criss cross pattern. Start with one, then move to the one directly across from that, and so on (not all will be "directly" across at all times, so just make sure you alternate and don't go in any consecutive (clockwise/counter clockwise) order.

How do you change a tire on a honda crv? I need to get the tire off the back door and change the driver side front tire. Where does the jack go?

The owners manual shows where to put the jack. I no manual sometimes there are illustrations where the jack is stored in its compartment. First loosen the lug nuts before you jack up the vehicle, prevents the tire from turning. After jacking up the vehicle finish removing the lug nuts then remove the tire. The spare tire on the door may have a locking lug nut which requires a key to unlock before removing the lug nuts. Key us usually on the ignition key ring. Remove the lug nuts and put tire on the drivers side. Tighten up the nuts on the wheel and after the car is let down from the jack, finish tightening the lug nuts.
