I got a used chrysler sebring 1999 lxi v6, i noticed check light came on, autozone told me is a vaccum leak problem, my mechanic chk a lot stuff and didnt find anything wrong, he said it was and ecm problem. Later on temp sensor went bad so i connect fan straight to battery and noticed the chk engine light went off. I replaced temp sensor car was working fine and after 1 day chk engine light came on again went back to autozone and same error vacuum leak but only when fan is connected. Will somebody know what's the problem?
First thing to remember autozone people ar not experts in the automative diagnostic world, if they were they would be earning 50 - 75,ooo per year as a technician, not 25,000 as a desk jockey. You need to go to a mechanic that has a computer to hookup to your car and tell you what the check engine light is on for. then you can fix the exact problem instead of poking around in the dark at the problem until you get lucky and have it fixed for a week or two,
Would have to say it has something to do with the ecu. It might be a sign that it will need replacing soon. It seems the computer is having a problem communicating with the sensor. Try to trace the wiring and make sure all connections are snug and clean.
Also check manifold vacuum at idle the best you can hold an idle. I have run into timing belt being one tooth off and engine still ran fine. But the vacuum was low that's how I could tell the belt was a tooth off.
