Hi Gallen, Take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan. I believe that if the problem is evident only when starting from cold there may be a problem with the cold start operation. The scan will pin point the problem. Regards John

SOURCE: 2004 cavalier fuel problem?

Please call me its easier to explain on the phone, in the mean time try something easy hit the fuel pump on thebottom with a brick or rock then have someone listen to the fill neck of the tank for the two second "buzz" as soon as you turn on the ignition, has this vehicle been run way way low on fuel many times or the fuel filter neglected to been changed at the 15,000 miles interval?

SOURCE: 86 chevy celbrity dies when it stops

It sounds like the transmission torque converter clutch is staying locked up and stalling the engine out. There is a plug on the side of the transmission that can be unpluigged but the converter will not lock up and it will affect fuel economy on the highway. Proper fix is to remove the transmission and replace the torque converter and repair the control circuit.

SOURCE: running rough and wants to die

Have the fuel pressure at the fuel rail checked. If you just want to throw parts at it: Fuel filter by the tank first. Fuel pressure regulator next. Order of ascending expense and likely hood. Does the fuel pump hum louder lately? The fuel pump may be on it's way out. It's not getting enough fuel to do anything but idle. Why that is takes some investigation. Somebody like Auto Zone may check your fuel pressure. If the fuel pressure is good, bad spark plug wires are the next guess. Lift the hood and run the engine in the dark (take the light bulb under the hood out if it still works to do this) If you see little lightening bolts traveling over the engine you need new plug wires. If the fuel pressure is good, the wires are good, change the spark plugs. Good Luck!

Ran fine, shut off. Came back out, turned over but not start. Had jump started twice but put in gear and died. Question: I know low on gas, can this effect anything?

Possibly a fuel supply issue. Will require a fuel pressure tester. Could be in tank pump or a bad fuel pump relay. In a quiet environment, turn key on (not start position ) and listen if you can hear the guel pump run for 1 or 2 seconds.

I started the car and the first time i turned it over (this is a manual) it died while still in neutral. The second time, i got it in reverse, got on the road and it died in first.when we start it, it runs...

Well you could have definetly run out.

As far as the fuel pump, there are lots that depends on if it was damaged. First off a fuel pump should never be run dry, damage CAN OCCUR. Second, if your car is up there in miles the fuel pump may be weak and not giving enough fuel, or you ARE IN FACT, out of fuel. Next, if the car is up in miles, and after you put gas in, and it runs fine...problem solved....and I wouldn't worry much about it, excpet for the fact that the fuel pump will fail sooner or later...allmost all do after 100-200 thousand miles on the car. If you put gas in and it works..drive till it doesnt run anymore. But try to keep fuel in the tank to get the best possible life from your fuel pump.

2001 cavalier died while driving, now it wont start

Could be failed fuel pump. Disconnect fuel line at engine and turn over a couple times having something to catch gas in. If electric pump don't turn over engine, just turn key to run position for a few seconds. Maybe clogged fuel filter or faulty pump if no gas shows. Change fuel filter and try again. If none, change pump.

Engine overheated, now car won't start without giving it gas

Some cars cut off as a fail safe to overheating especially on newer cars. The computer controls the fans and if they are not working the computer is probably telling the car to shut off. Have you replaced the motors already, if not, this is what's happening. Once you replace the motors it should run fine. I wouldn't suggest driving it too much with this problem as it may affect the computer by giving it false info.
