Hitachi Excavator- Swing motor gearbox leak ... 10000 hrs that I am thinking the seal on the swing motor reduction gearbox went out. ... but a friend that works on construction equipment said to check the swivel manifold.
Perkin engines were built to a standard bell housing configuration so that gear boxes of different makes would fit straight on. If you hurth gear box was made to these standards then the bell housing will bolt up to the engine. It was no 1 for most gear boxes or no2 for road ranger -splicer . Check with an engine rebuilder rand they will be able to tell you.
do get like a clunking sound shifting between first an reverse as you let the clutch out?.if so its probably a universal joint either the one up by the tranny or the one by the rear axle.
rpw makes the gearboxes. they are notorius for being noisy and bad. but at this time mitsubishi doe not have any recalls at this time. My plymouth champ had this almost identical gear box, and it was always a problem.
Hi there. Your vehicle is fitted with an electronic automatic transmission and I suggest that before any expensive rebuild work is undertaken on the transmission, especially when you say it drives fine, it that the intermittent electrical problem is resolved. You should firstly have an authorised Dealer check out the fault codes on the transmission ECU – this might identify where the problem is. They will also be able to perform a ‘Stall Test’ and again this will determine the effective operation of the gearbox. Hope this helps, Scottech.
If you start it, and drop it into 1 does it move? If so, sounds like the sprag clutch (iirc) has gone - this is the clutch that allows you to freewheel at lights and what not. Common problem on the Auto gearboxes. Will need a rebuild I'm afraid.
