I changed the clogged fuel filter and put about 10 dollars of gas and fuel injector cleaner in the car with no luck..... I checked the fuses with a circuit tester and the fuel injector fuses showed nothing I changed them out even tho they did not look bad but the new fuses showed nothing on the tester either and while attempting to crank the battery died so while waiting for a jump/charge im looken for some help..... Any input is appreciated

First I need to know year make and model.
My guess is the pump is faulty. But you would need to find out if it is getting power. And you said you checked the fuses.
On most cars there is a relay that may be in the circuit before the fuse.

I would check the pump for voltage and if it is running, remove the line to the filter and see if the filter is clogged again. Be very careful.
If the pump has voltage and is not running you have your answer.

The electric pump uses fuel to cool it and provide lube. Any foreign matter in the tank can cause big problems.

Try cleaning the IAC idle control valve. Buy a can of brake cleaner or carburater cleaner and with the car running at 1200 rpms spray right into the fuel system area where you take off the duct work for the air cleaner. The idle control valve can be removed also and the 2 holes on the under side of the valve cleaned. They get dirty and cause rough idling or no idling.

If not, have your car scanned for a code to check if it is the IPS (idle position sensor.)

For the gas filling problem , do not stick the whole nozzle in. Just enough to where you can pour the gas without the nozzle clicking off.

SOURCE: check engine light need help

Hi kelly4578, Your Air/Fuel Ratio sensor is failing. It is also called the Bank One sensor. The sensor itself is about $200 from a parts distributor and somewhat more than that at a Lexus parts department. Labor to remove the old sensor and replace it with the new one will also run you several hundred dollars.

If you're mechanically inclined, you can tackle this repair yourself. But you must first determine the exact location of the failed sensor. And be careful not to strip the threads in the manifold when you remove the old sensor.

Let me know if this helps and please rate this solution. lone99star

Best do a fuel pressure test. Should have chg. fuel filter from the get go. The only other filter is on the end of the fuel pump in tank. Bad gas and dirty gas will plug up fuel filter, hense burn pump up.

SOURCE: 2002 chevy express fuel pump/crank sensor?? not starting

i had a similar problem and called the dealer during lunch hour. i talked to a mechanic, the distributor in these vehicles is plastic, and is prone to cracking.not just the cap but the body also, I have been taking the cap off and wiping the moisture out of the cap. or replacing the cap but the problem is I need a new distributor. just a cheep way to get rolling is cleaning the inside of the cap, especially when it is very damp or the outside temp changes alot during the day. good luck.

What is the average fuel consumption of a 1996 Toyota Tamarax FX GL Wagon?

do you want to figure out how to figure yours out. a 20 year old car nothing is going to be average. to get it better lose some weight in the car. meaning don't carry 500 lbs of stuff you don't need. the less it weights the less the engine has to work which saves gas use. fill your tank normal till the pump shuts off and don't pull the handle to add more fuel. then write down the mileage. drive the car 200 miles. fill the tank again the same way. then figure out the miles you drove and how much gas you put in the tank. if you drove 200 miles and used 10 gallons you get 20 miles to the gallon. doing a tune up and checking your air in the tires can increase the mileage. good idea to check it first before doing the tune up to show it did some good. I did a tune up once and got almost 5 more miles to the gallon after

2009 Sierra running rough after putting injrction cleaner in

Put more than 3 gallons of gas in your tank- $20 = 3.5 gallons here. The bottle of cleaner specifies how many gallons of fuel is to be mixed with the cleaner. Usually 8-10 gallons for the small bottle cleaners. Whatever. Follow the directions. It will likely run like garbage for about a quarter tanks worth, but should clear up eventually, UNLESS - there was something wrong before you put the cleaner in. Have you put cleaner in before now? If not, why did you decide to do it now? If there was an issue before, that issue needs to be cleared up before trying additives, unless you are absolutey sure you have a dirty injector or two. Also might help to buy the highest octane rated gas you can for a tank or two. The more expensive brands (Shell, Exxon, Mobil, etc.) usually have some detergents in their gasolines that help clean injectors on their own too.

I ran out of gas put 5 gallons of gas in the car drove car 2 miles. Filled it up. Went to eat. Then drove car 20 miles. Car sat overnight would not start next morning. Relay was changed. All fuses good....

By running the car out of fuel you may have damaged the fuel pump. You need to perform a fuel pressure test with a pressure gauge to see if the fuel pump is working and is working at the proper pressure. You might check your fuel filter as well. I suspect a bad fuel pump.

2000 Ford Expedition Starting problem

If the fuel gauge drops off when you are driving then its a sending unit problem that means you have to drop the tank and replace the float and sending unit. This is a common problem for alot of cars because of cheap gas. If you have to drop the tank check the fuel pump canster for dirt because of cheap gas. Replace the fuel pump strainer and fuel pump filter. If the car or truck has about 100,000 miles you might want to change the fuel pump at that time also just to cover your back. If you take it to a shop they will charge you at least $900 to start. But if you do it yourself it will cost you about $200 dollars maybe alittle more.

Car won't start

Your fuel pump is sticking and not pumping, this is common if you run the fuel down to less than 1/4 full, the fuel pump needs the gas to cool itself, below a 1/4 tank the pump is not getting cooled and after repeatably running low on fuel it overheats and fails. Running the car near 1/2 tank extends the pump life to many years more than running tank below a 1/4 full..
