Ok, i worked on my sons honda civic today and i got it running... I cranked and cranked and crank the starter until it finally fired up... it's very hard to start without cranking it like that... also, after the car finally starts it idles fine... but, if you stab the gas peddle there's power loss like it's not getting enough fuel or something... but if you gradually step on the gas peddle it will steadily increase power and rev up like normal... I'm totally stumped??? does anyone know what would cause that?

SOURCE: My distributor is out 96 Honda Civic LX. How hard
Why do you think the Distributor is out? It's not hard to replace if you have the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle and understand how to get to TDC and line up everything. But it is very rare that a Distributor goes out. If it is not turning it is more likely that your timing Belt has broken than the distributor going bad.
