Has the Transmission control module been tested for fault codes? this is an electronically shifted transmission. So the 1st step in finding out if this is a transmission mechanical issue or a shift solenoid problem it to have the fault code test run and have a trained technican drive the car. Aamco Transmission repair centers will do the test for FREE.

Hello gregory, this sounds like a possible pressure sensor switch or solenoid valve switch that has coded the TCM. The valve body will usually set a P1776 code if it is faulty. I would suggest having it scanned with the proper diagnostic equipment to capture pressure readings & faults. From that data a repair path can be determined.
I hope this helps.

The auto governor or the settings in the gear box seems to be faulty as it fails to move the selector. Make sure that the transmission fluids were changed , and that there is no grinding noise. If there is any alignment issue with the selector , it must be reset after checking for PLAY.
If the fault seems to be consistent then the transmission gear box must be removed and checked before it can cause more damage.

I have a 66 Chevy pickup, I need to know what degree to set the timing. It's a 292 engine.

Hi, I know a trick to adjusting your timing. you will need an assistant. if the truck has an automatic transmission, you can have someone put the vehicle in reverse or drive, keeping the brake pedal pressed down firmly, press the accellerator pedal, advance the timing by turning the distributor, until you get spark knock. Then turn it back just until the spark knock goes away. this may not be the factory spec, but it will give you optimum performance.

2002 Cadillac dts , transmission shifts to 2 and 3rd gear on its own while I drive even on the dash board it goes from D to 2nd or 3rd random . I put the car in park turn it off and restart it put it in...

Since the transmission in this car is electronically controlled the first thing that must be done is to have the transmission control module scanned for fault codes, that is numero uno.

Gears are laging or staying in gear too long. Also sometimes hits nutural and in order to get it back in gear i have to back off on the accellerator.. What could be the problem?

Burnt or heavily used transmission fluid. Also could be the result of low transmission fluid. Don't drive the vehicle until a mechanic has looked at it. It's not worth a $1400 tranny rebuild. It could also be the transmission oil pump.
