2008 Pontiac G6. I can't get it to rev over 4000 rpm after changing the crankshaft sensor. To reset the crankshaft sensor you have to rev the rpm past 5000.

Question edited for a lot more clarity. That is the worst written English and spelling I have seen for months! :>D
Question moved to model category.

It sounds like you are in Limp Mode. Was the crankshaft sensor, a proper OEM replacement of a cheap one from Mexico or China? They come faulty as new! Don't go cheap on sensors.

Or it has a rev limiter depending on what you are doing.

2005 gran am Pontiac 3.4 v6 the car is idling on 5000 rpm I replaced the throttle housing gasket and throttle positioning sensor still nothing idling at 5000rpm still does anybody have and suggestions...

500 RPM or 5000? Reason I ask is the rev limiter shouldn't let it rev over 3500 in park or neutral? If idling at 500 then get an external tachometer and connect it to determine that your gauge isn't faulty! if at 5000 RPM it could be a stuck tps or possibly debris in the throttle body or a vacuum leak causing the idle to increase? Is it idling high or low compared to before it became faulty?

Mercedes e 320 cdi engine revs ok but will not engage reverse or drive to move

Just bought S 320 cdi , drives very well, but when starting engin cold , it only moves on R or D when I rev up to 2000 rpm , then drives normally , but if Istop the car , pull off again it goes very softly on 800 or 900 rpm . So the problem is the first start only. Is that normal or there is something wrong..advice me guys , Thak you

Fast rev problem

Can you tell if the engine speed increased ?
Something in the transmission could be slipping, or the tach could be faulty.

Maxda B4000 RPM skips 2000 to 5000

If you can actually hear the engine race up to 5000 RPM you may have a serious problem. But more then likely you cant actually hear the engine rev up. If this is the case I would suspect a bad Tachometer ground wire.

My grang cherokee2002 us spec, while driving trnz changes fine but when cick down or full excelrate and RPM reaches 4.5 or 5 engine is loosing power and getting noisy and RPM not going more, while gear on...

You are hitting the rev limiter top range, which cuts off your ignition.

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee and the problem drives me crazy, but it is the way the car is designed- as soon as you hit the rev limit, it shuts down ignition and your jeep will "buck" - a real pain when you are trying to accelerate into traffic!

You have the 4.0L straight six engine, yes?

If so, please take my advice and learn to live with the minor annoyance of the rev limiter- that engine is IMHO the best Chrysler ever made (nearly "bulletproof"!) and it was so reliable you cannot even get it in a jeep now! For decades, that engine was used in welders, tractors, generators...and yes, jeeps... and it is a favorite among mechanics for its durability!

06 envoy has a low idle while car is running but not moving. RPM's drop to about 3000 when car is warmed up and sitting at a light or not moving. It then revs up to normal when driving

First check the air filter for restrictions.
Second try cleaning the throttle body. It will build up a carbon deposit around the throttle plate.
Third you may consider having the pcm program updated. The program does have changes for various things including the fan clutch. It can stay engaged.
