If it's not finding the operating system, and you'va ran the recovery cd, then the problem is going to be that the hard drive has failed and will need replaced. In order to double check and make sure it's the hard drive, run the recovery or operating system disc, and reformat the hard drive. If the hard drive will not format, then it's bad.

SOURCE: My IBM Think Pad T30 showin working on AC with out powering..

there is a switch in the plug end to the back of your comp its like a little swinging door that when you unplug out of back of comp this switch engages battery now if you unplug just from wall its going to see these 2 things the doors not shut but i have to keep working so it sets aside the plug still recognizing it of course but running off the battery trying to still find out why the powers not there but the plug is still plugged in and it will continually search until it reaches its falt point of dead battery
its like a battery backup for your system it gets unplug but wants to know where the power is

now in reference to the little swinging door i call it its a power over relay in your comp for some reason its not closing properly to allow battery to run by self
this is usually just a switch that needs adjusted in the motherboard configuration

I have a T30 IBM Think Pad and cannot find the wireless switch. Can someone help me?

I don't think the T30 has an actual physical switch for the wireless. The ThinkPad button will show you how to do the wireless setup/repair. If you have Bluetooth on it, the Bluetooth indicator should be near the hinge.

Ibm think pad t30

you need to be techy on this one. you need to open the laptop. before you do that, be sure to remove all source of power (ac adapter and battery). press and hold the power button to drain all excess power. check the motherboard and reseat the CMOS jumper. it looks like a tiny pin. after reseating the jumper, reconnecting power and turn on the laptop.

i hope this helps.
