How do you replace the battery on this guitar? I can't seem to see inside the body to locate the battery or holder? Thanks, Ed

Depending on the year, it could be a couple different places. There could be a little battery compartment on the outside body of the guitar. Sometimes they are separate from the other electronic controls. Sometimes that are part of the controls or even part of the guitar jack. But if it is on the outside of the body, it will have a little door that pops open when you push a tab. You just have to look and see if there is a little rectangular door. If you don't have a little door, then it is likely tucked inside the guitar, just inside the sound hole. If it is in there, then you will probably see a little cloth pouch with wires coming out. Thats where the 9v battery is kept and plugged in. It's usually held to the body with velcro.

It is easy to replace the battery in your Washburn guitar.

The battery compartment is located where you plug in an instrument cable to your guitar. Simply open it and take out the old battery and put in a new 9V. battery.

From the SN alone, it appears to be a 2003. Gibson quite frequently used the first and fifth number of the serial to tell you what year the instrument was built in. But this completely depends on the model/ where the serial number is located/ if it is stamped, embedded, or located inside of a hollow body. If you can post a picture of the guitar and the serial number that would greatly help.

You'll need needle nose pliers, small phillips head screwdriver, soldering iron, electronics-grade solder, socket screwdriver or 1/4" wrench, black electrical tape. Purchase necessary replacement jack. Remove plastic electronics cover plate, located on the back of the body, behind control knobs. This will expose the electronics cavity. Locate existing jack and its wire connections inside the exposed cavity. Remove any electrical tape covering the jack connections. Using a hot soldering iron, touch each of the two soldered input jack connections, one at a time, just until the soldered connection melts. Then, disconnect the associated wires (taking note of which wire connects where!). Once disconnected, loosen and remove the nut on the outer part of the jack that holds it onto the guitar body. Remove the old jack. Insert the new jack (with the nut removed) into the existing hole, from inside the electronics cavity and tighten it in place, on the outside of the guitar body, with the nut. Re-attach the wires to the new jack, by using needle nose pliers to wrap them tightly around the correct posts. Touch the hot soldering iron to each post and apply a small amount of solder to the post as it's being heated. Once the molten solder runs over the connection and looks shiny, remove the tip of the soldering gun. This process takes only 2 to 3 seconds. Let the connections cool for a few seconds. To insulate, wrap connections with black electrical tape. Replace cover plate.

The battery should be located in the control cavity of the guitar. It is in the back of the bass. Usually 4 screws holding it on. Inside your 9v battery will be located. Good luck

Get it a repare at guitar center they have a pack of guitar strings for 5-10 Dollers they are located in Oregon Washington cailfoina if you relly want a cheep guitar that sounds good get bc rich or finder or eipcphone your guitar strings are probley getting old you have to buy a certain brad of stings that well last a year and if you need tuneing you can download an app for online tuning or you can type in online guitar tuneing I hoped this helped give me a message if you need more

You are likely correct that you have trained the battery. The battery is located at near the tail line.

If it is an APX-500, the battery is in a holder between the neck and the tuner on the curved sides of the guitar. It should unlatch. The battery (9V) goes into the holder and is inserted and latches.

There should be enough room inside for the battery. If there isn't you could do some routing to the body to make it fit. I personally don't have this guitar but more than likely you can position the 9v battery to fit. To keep it from moving around, you can put a piece of sponge in the cavity.
