How to access my Buffalo HD-PNTU3 external hard drive?

dropping it while turned on is fatal as it usually damages the write heads and/or the platters.
if it hit the floor, changes are it's physically damaged the mechanism.
recovering data from a drive with this damage is not cheap as you will have to send it away to be rebuilt. It's impossible to rebuild it yourself.

HD-PNT1.0U3R-EU driver

Possibly an issue with your PC's USB ports as well. Plug something else into that specific port to see if it will work. If not, then it's an issue with the motherboard.

For drivers, contact Buffalo.

Gettinng a red light n the unit

The Buffalo have a description of the codes in their knowledge base. You can see on how many times it blinks what the cause of the problem is. If I am right the device is about 6 years old, the HDD might fail..... In any case it is out of warranty and if it is truly the drive maybe you can swap it.

External Buffalo Hard Disk 500 Gb model no HD-PF500U2/BK-AP not detecting when connnected to a laptop or a desktop PC

Check the usb port function in the computer bios settings and be sure that it is set to yes. Connect properly your external drive. If it has two wire usb connections, use both to obtain the maximum power that will be need by your drive.
