For some time now our Dometic Americana Refrig. would not get below 40 degrees and now we have a different problem. It will not get above 20-25 degrees and we have tried everything we can possibly think of to correct it. If you have any ideas we would greatly appreciate them. The mother board was changed 3 years ago because of the same problem and it has not worked right since that time.

The Dometic is a good unit, however, sometimes things work loose and connections get corroded. On many occasions, I have fired my unit up in all modes and checked it out, drive 100 miles down the road and then have to clean connections reseat everything, etc.. One of the biggest problems is the DC connections. It seems like I am constantly cleaning the connections.

What do I check to fix my Dometic Americana refrigerator. It won't start using electric or gas.

Fist off before you get crazy replacing things make sure the camper is level when testing this. Gas will not run to it if you are not level. Also make sure the gas is turned on and make sure you have selected automatic or gas only on your fridge. Also give it about an hour before you test the temp. These take a bit longer to start feeling cool. If all of that does not work you will need to check the refrigerant, igniter(for the gas side) and the compressor. Also make sure the fuses are good to go at the main panel and that the breakers are in the "on" position

Why dose my freezer get cold but not in the frig on gas or 115 volt ?

It has possibly started to leak. On all models that were manufactured after 1999 it is most common for them to leak just above the burner area. It can be accessed from the rear vent of the refrigerator. One the vent is removed look to the far right just below the ductwork. If you can see a yellow residue, it has for sure began to leak and will not last much longer. Everything in the vegetable and lower drawers is freezing. The temperature is set at 42 degrees.

Can you put a thermometer in the different places in the fridge?
All food has to be kept below 40 degrees and above 32 degrees.

Hope this helps you

Dometic Americana RM2852 refrigerator does not work. Has power to it, light inside works and lights at top indicating 'AUTO' mode are illuminated, but refrig doesn't work in any mode. Gas is...

Have the same unit but experience no problems. Sounds like a freon leak has left it inert. You can of course switch from auto to gas and eliminate the auto switch over as part of the problem. You can see the gas flame in the outside access hatch, (or maybe hear it) to be sure it is getting gas. since it doesn't respond in auto, which would also work in electric mode, I think it is the freon problem.

New whirlpool refrig. freezer ok at 0 but refrig

The freezer get the first crack at cooling and combination units have a fan and adjustable vents to steal some of the cooling capacity for the refrigerator. The vent are normally located in the back of the refrigerator compartment and with these, you can balance the cooling capacity between freezer and fridge. I recommend you swap your thermometer back and forth until you get the balance you want; typically the freezer should be at 5 degrees F or below and the fridge at 35-40 degrees F. Adjusting the control for temperature and having the vents set to supply the cold air you want in each compartment should give you the range you want in each.

Change right hand door ,to left hand

Not sure with this model but most time you can and I'm sure this is no different, look at the screws holding the hinge bracket, there should be identical screw holes to match on the opposite side.
