How do I put my Vivitar 5024 on Landscape Mode to take pics of fireworks? I've lost my manual, and I am rather "new" at taking digital photos. Thank you for your help.

The camera needs a memory card in order to save pictures. You can take pictures without one and view them on the screen, but those pictures are lost when you turn the camera off.

What does the switch on the side mean

If you mean the switch marked with a flower and a mountain, that's the macro/normal switch. The flower position puts the camera in macro mode, for taking pictures of things very close to the camera. This mode lets the camera focus close, and disables the flash. The mountain position puts the camera in normal mode, for most picture-taking.

I have a vivitar vivicam 5024 and i remember how to turn the flash on

The flash instruction begin on page 8 of the manual. Bear in mind that the flash won't work in macro mode, only in far mode. Also, the flash is for still photos only, not for videos.

How to setup my vivtar vivicam8025 to take pic

Still image mode is described beginning on page 11 of the manual.
If you're asking about settings for a particular situation, those would depend on the situation. That's why there are multiple settings on the camera. The settings for a portrait are unlikely to be the same as for a landscape, for example.

Flash

Hey liz2007,
Some scene modes don't allow the flash to be used such as landscape, sports, sunset, dusk/dawn, night landscape, museum, fireworks, and copy modes. If anti-shake mode is selected the flash will not fire, and if the camera is set to continuous shooting mode the flash will not fire. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
