Try this:
Hold down the middle button (home button), the power button, and the volume DOWN button (make SURE that it's not the up one. It won't do anything, but it won't fix your iPod. Only the Down button will.).

Hold all of these down until the Apple sign shows up. Once the Apple sign shows up, it SHOULD work.
I hope this helps!

I reset my ipod touch but the screen appear with itunes icon and usb connector

Hello,

The OS (operating system) of your ipod is corrupt for one reason or the other. The ipod won't boot or start because the start-up file or necessary files needed to boot up the ipod are corrupt.

The solution to the problem is to re-installing the OS (operating system) of the ipod by restoring the ipod. To achieve this, you will be needs a USB cord for your ipod model and i-tunes installed on your computer. Once you have i-tunes installed on your computer and a USB cord, then the job will be done and your ipod will be back to normal again.

If you don't have i-tunes installed on your computer, go to www.apple.com
Click on i-tunes and download i-tunes for free, then install it on your computer. After installing and downloading i-tunes, follow the below steps:

Run the i-tune program on your computer
Connect the USB to your I-pod
Connect the other end to your computer
Wait a while for the computer to recognize and install the ipod, then read and follow instructions on the i-tune. It will ask you to restore your ipod.
But if the i-tunes doesn't recognize the ipod via your PC, press and hold the Power button and the home button for 5 to 10 seconds. Leave the power button and keep pressing the home button or vice-ver-sa till the restore option comes up.
Click on restore and follow instructions thereafter.

After the whole restore process, your i-pod will be back to normal again.

Note: Make sure you back up your ipod if the files on it are very important to you. Start by syncing your iPod with your computer. When you do this, the iPod management screen will appear. Midway down that screen there's a button that reads "Restore."

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Good luck.

  2. Connect your device to your computer.
  3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.

  4. Secondly, you can unlock the i-pod by resetting it:
  5. You can restore your iPod to factory settings if you do not have access to your computer. This process erases all the data you have stored on your iPod.
  6. Plug your iPod into a computer distinct from you used in sync it and also make sure you have i-tuns installed on the computer. Open iTunes and click on the "Restore" button.
  7. Reload your data, if it is available and sync your iPod. Remove it following normal procedures and it will be unlocked.

Do you have an I-tunes account? you dont need the original computer that was first used but you will need the pass code if there is one set on the i-pod. Also you can restore your i-pod with your old i-tunes account on any computer.

DFU means:
Device Firmware Update, hence it’s a mode where the iPod Touch device will be made to force restore into whatever versions it’s given with.

If you're not trying to 'restore' it, take it out of this mode
[If you are, you should be installing firmware]

Here are instructions that are Windows & MAC compatible:
[remember this is HOW to get to DFU mode

Before you begin, turn on your iPod Touch (make sure it won’t auto lock, to prevent mistakes), and connect it to iTunes. Once iTunes shows your device, perform the following steps:
Step 1: Hold down the “Home” button
Step 2: Hold down the “Standby” button
Step 3: When it says “slide to turn off”, ignore it. It should restart with a blank screen. Look at iTunes, and your device should be removed. Now lift the Standby button, while still holding onto the Home button.
Step 4: Keep holding the Home button until the iPod reconnects on iTunes. When the device shows up in iTunes, that’s when you’ll need to lift up your button. If you wait any longer, it will go into Recovery Mode, and that’s not what you want. Your iPod should be blank.
Step 5: Now iTunes will tell you that the iPod Touch is in Recover Mode.
