color coded RCA plugs in the back of the DVD will match the jacks on the rear of the TV, you only need 3 but can use up to 6 if motivated. red and white are sound while yellow is always video for the most basic connection for an anolog TV. Orange is digital audio, small optical out (square plug) is for optical audio and the 3 other colors back there are for colorstream outputs or composite outs. If you have a rectangle plug in the back that is for a HDMI cable. Of course if you have a solver metal threaded connector like a cable jack in the back you can use that too but there are very few DVD players that have this connector.

My sound doesn't work with the DVD fuction. It works on the Tuner, the VHS1 but not DVD. Do I need to connect the S-Video cable or what else should I try?

S-video would be a better choice than (yellow) composite video but it won't help the sound.

Not knowing anything about the DVD player and how you have it wired we can only guess what is wrong with IT or the connection to the KLH.

Have you looked at the manuals for the DVD and the KLH? You don't just hook it up and run with it. Digital Audio must be assigned, for example, and other stuff.
