Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

2 Answers

Dell batteries. my dell inspiron 1520 stopped charging. the charge light shows that its charging for about 2-4 seconds, then flashes as if its dead a few time, then goes back to acting as if it were charging. This continues to repeat and i cant get it to charge up enough for me to use it. On a thread you said that you took out the battery and tested it, but how do you test a laptop battery? NOTE: it says dell inspiron 1501 pc note book, but it's actually a 1520. it wont let me submit this as 1520.

My laptop not starting up on pressing start buttton.

ensure it's fully charged.
plug in AC

if that doesn't work, plug out ac, remove battery.
hold power button on for 30 seconds

put battery back in, then AC

if that doesn't work, either AC adapter is broken and not charging the PC, or else motherboard is dead.

Charging light is flashing

There are two possible causes for this issue:
1) Your dell 9400 charger is malfunction
2) Your laptop dc power jack is loose or dead

Possible troubleshooting step:
1) Borrow a compatible dell charger to plug in your laptop, if it works without any issue, it means your dell inspiron 9400 adapter need to be replaced.

2) If the compatible dell 9400 charger won't work normally, the problem may lie in your dc power jack.

Hope this will help.

My laptop, dell inspiron 1800, cuts on but after a few seconds cuts back off. it lights up but shuts back off

A few things to check:
1.) Check the battery is charged and the charger is supplying the right voltage and the power jack is tight in the laptop DC port. Check that the charger (on charger) light is steady green, not flashing.

2.) Remove battery and try to boot on AC Power, if this works, either the battery is not charging (dead battery) or the charging circuit in the laptop is damaged.

3.) Remove Ram modules oner at a time, see if it boots with one module in, if it does, then issue is with the ram

4.) Examine the cooling vents, try blowing them to see if any dust is released, hoover them as best you can, if this cures the problem (and it will be a temporary fix), get the laptop stripped down and give it a proper clean around the processor and fan areas. (overheating issue)

If it does not help, then Its looking like your motherboard has developed a fault through maybe overheating

Dell Inspiron 1520- Blank screen, Caps Lock flashes 45 times...

If it does not even post or show the DELL Logo then this may already be a hardware failure. The best thing to do is to contact Dell Tech Support. Specially if you still have warranty. It could already be a couple of things ranging from the memory to the motherboard itself.

My dell inspiron 6400 no power at all

If your battery is charging, then i guess it is suffering from Dells Graphics card known issue. Basically the graphics card stops working which also wont let your laptop boot up. A tell tale sign of this being the problem is when you press the power button on your laptop, the power light will flash on for a second then die.... hope this helps...

Dell Inspiron E1705 battery light flashes 4 amber lights, then 1 green. The battery seems to charge.

The ambar lights are warning you the battery is becoming to dead, it means in a short time, if it has not happens now, the battery won't retain the charge anymore, it is time thinking in a replacement if you use your laptop without plug in the power outlet.

Dell latitude D600 battery charge light flashing

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.
