Hello
Well i always do the easier method to find out the problem.
hers a few things to do to determine whats wrong.
1st pull spark plug and do compression test, a blown head gasket will lose compression.
if the gasket is blown then the compression test will read a low psi and drop suddenly
2nd worn piston rings will lose compression, the compression test will read a very low psi below 100 psi and may leak right down depending on how worn the rings are.

that would make you lose power.
have it tested to see which it is.

either way, a lose of power in the motor is caused by lose of compression in the motor.
you can do the test your self, you can buy a compression tester pretty cheap, just make sure you don't cross thread the connectors.
have a good weekend
Big Al

Cub 1550 with kohler courage. Runs fine and then loses power, runs erratic and starts to backfire. Cleaned carb and fuel pump and ran fine for 30 minutes and then problem started again. When this occurs,...

Replace fuel filter after cleaning tank thouroughly, to clean tank remove fuel line at carb. Drain all fuel then leave line loose until you flush tank with carb. Cleaner then blow out tank with compressed air. Now install new fuel filter and check your fuel can for trash and water better yet just add fresh fuel.

My 03 wr450f ran fine for me last summer...I let it set for a good 6 months...went to crank it the other day... I do race it and it still will fly on top end speeds but it will hardly idle now and back...

You need to remove the carburetor ,take the bowl off, and locate the slow speed jet/circuit and clean it with carb cleaner and blow through it. Once the dirt or varnish is removed it should start and idle like before.

Engine stalls after running for 25 miles?

Sounds like a fuel or intake problem to me, start the bike and spray brake cleaner onto the intake where it goes into the head, if the bike stumbles then you have an intake leak and have to change the seals or just tighten up the intake manifold. Another thing you could do is remove the carb (if it is carburated) remove the float bowl and clean everything including the jets, you could have some **** in there that is plugging things up. Also try removing the air cleaner and spraying a can of carb cleaner into and around the carb. Also try removing the gas tank and completely cleaning it and the petcock screen out, you could have something in the gas tank that is migrating to the petcock and causing a blockage.

1200 bandit choking up under 3000rpm

Sounds the pilot passages and or the needl jet air passages are blocked on the carb for that cylinder that is not fireing. The carb should be removed from the bike and disassembled and dipped in carb cleaner. What I think works best for cleaning carb is Yamaha's Carb Dip I mix it 50/50 with warm water. All the rubber parts must be removed as they will be swell and be damaged by the dip. After you dip the carb will need to verify all passages with spray carb clean to make sure the fluid will make it through the intended passage.

1992 3.0 toyota runs but cuts off when i hit bumb in road

mass air flow sensor (MAF) its not a cheep unit either. You can pull it off the air cleaner and see if anything is blocking air from travling through if so clean it with carb cleaner (dont touch sensor though) or remove any objects, then see if it helped.
