Did you try to press the info button several times? Whatch what happens on the screen, because the camera will cycle through several views.
It is in the manual, under Changing the image information display.
The up and down arrows on the multi-function button on the back of the camera set the image on the display. With the display on, press the up or down arrow to function through the display settings and the stop on the one you want.
This often happens when you accidentally hit one of the arrow buttons while taking the picture and this changes the display image to the histogram or other display setting.
Press the UP / DOWN arrows (on the wheel to the right of the display) while displaying an image to cycle thru the display options until you get what you want. Press LEFT / RIGHT arrows to advance / rewind images in the display.
I assume you're talking about the histogram or one of the data screens. Press cursor-up/down to cycle through the different views of your image. Once you find one you like, it'll stay on that view until you change it again. See the "Photo Information" section of the manual (page 100 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy from here.
Press the "DISPLAY" button until you get the display you wish. You can choose the information you want overlayed on the image in the custom display settings, see pages 55 onwards in your user manual.
make the "live view"/"viewing screen" first enable by locating it in your menu or your settings. then after that you can go back from taking picture by using the viewing screen
in regards of viewing the pictures taken, press the display button. keep pressing until the viewing screen appears
If you simply want to see the date and time on the screen, press up/down while reviewing your pictures until you get the view you want.
If you want the date and time printed on the pictures, that needs to be done in whatever program you use to print. For example, Nikon ViewNX has a "Print Photo Information" check box in its Print dialog.
The camera is not going to damage your pictures by imprinting date and time on any portion of the image. It will record that information (and a lot more), but its priority is on getting the image data.
