Canon G9: could not turn

The Canon G9 has a problem where two screws in the top of the camera work themselves loose over time, then fall out and short out the fuse on what's called the DC/DC board.

This board needs to be replaced, both screws need to be found within the camera (if both fell out), and they need to be put back in place and held in with 'Locktite' so they don't fall out again.

If you do a Google search for "g9 no power repair" you will see in the #3 position Darntoothysam com, where you can have this repair performed for $85 total! This includes the part, installation, and return shipping of the camera.

If you want to do the repair yourself (no instructions included, sorry) you may purchase the part you need for $48 including shipping.

Hope this helps!

A great place to get help with these G9 no power problems is: www.camerasandparts.comThey just specialize in the service for the Canon Powershot models and they are very familiar with this specific problem. The nice thing with them is for $89, you get everything included in their service package for the G9, all parts / labor, shipping back and the service for the camera too. The best part, they include the no power correction to the internal screws for all of the G9's they service. If you need a hand, www.camerasandparts.com is the place for service on these. The work is excellent and their pricing and knowledge of these cameras is what I liked.

My canon powershot g9 will not turn on

Your camera probably developed a common short that the G9's sometimes get. You'll need to have it serviced and if you go to this site: www.CamerasAndParts.com they service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they are excellent on these models. It's $89 with them and you get parts, labor, servicing for the camera, and most important they perform the no power correction on the camera too. Shipping is included on the way back with them too. For $89 they're tough to beat. They are experts on these models and the only place I'd go for a Canon Powershot. Good luck with yours.

There is a problem in the G9's where screws come loose and short out the camera inside. This place does the repair and they correct them inside so it won't keep happening www.camerasandparts.com They're excellent for any problem on a Canon. Canon no longer services the G9 which is unfortunate because the G9 was one of their best cameras. Cameras and Parts will be able to help you, that's a common problem on your model and they do the correction, plus service and repair the camera. It's $89 through them, pretty much unbeatable and they service is as good as it gets on these cameras.

Hi, my canon g9 powershot, suddenly stopped

The best place for service for the Powershots is: www.camerasandparts.com They only specialize in service and repairs for the Powershots and they know their stuff, they're amazing if you need service for one of these models. They don't have any service package for a powershot for over $100 including the repair, plus the service for the camera, and even the shipping back. Try them, they do amazing work and that's where most people head for service for the Powershots, good luck

Yes it does sound like a battery problem. Keep in mind that the rechargeable battery is only meant to last a couple years maximum, regardless of use. You may consider a low-cost generic alternative just to troubleshoot. Here's one from Amazon with reasonably good ratings.

Dead camera G9 located in

Your camera most likely has a short from some screws that get loose inside of these cameras. There's a really good place in the states that only services Powershots. They are not expensive at all and they do wonderful work. It's $89 with them for parts, labor servicing for the camera included. If you're in the states, they give you the free Priority Shipping going back, I'm sure it's more for shipping back to Norway. One of the neat things with them is that not only do they do wonderful work, they include the no power correction on any G9 they service, that way the problem doesn't keep happening. The website for them is: www.camerasandparts.com If you have a Canon Powershot, they're great for help with these cameras. Best of luck with the problem.

G9 has no power and

Most of the time when a Canon G9 has no power, it almost always has the loose screw syndrome inside the camera. When the screws inside come loose, they cause a short and the camera typically has no power at that point. The good news is it's not too expensive to have fixed. There's a great shop that just specializes in the Canon Powershots and is amazing for this G9 no power problem. The site is: www.camerasandparts.com They charge $89 total for the parts, labor, and return shipping regardless of what is causing the no power problem. Their flat-rate service packages are pretty tough to beat but they only service powershots. The neat thing with them is they include all of the service for the camera at the time of the repair and they also perform the no power correction automatically which needs to be done so this doesn't keep happening. For those that need help with this problem, they're fantastic for service on these cameras.

Canon G9 wont power up.

The reason it won't work is because when you went in to fix it, you shorted out the flash. That's what the flash was that you saw when you reconnected it to the main board. It's best not to open these and try to work on them yourself. There are steps to take when servicing electronics and it sounds like you forgot to drain the capacitor first. I'd suggest to go this site and see if they can help you www.camerasandparts.com They're very knowledgable with the Canon cameras and I'm sure they can get working just right again or maybe they can tell you the part you need to fix what you did when you were working on it.

My canon g9 won't turn

The camera probably got shorted by some loose screws inside. You can get that fixed for very little. A shop that is wonderful for these and only specializes in the Canon Powershot's is: www.camerasandparts.com The neat thing with them is they also do the correction to those internal screws that are known to come loose. It runs $89 with the repair, the service for the camera and the shipping back included. They're wonderful if you need service for one of these cameras. Good luck with it.
