You can reset the BIOS password. To do that read the information from this link.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.

I have a toshiba portege m100 with a bios password set that i need to bypass. toshiba want 80 quid just to look at it. some sorces say short clr1 jumper but i cant find it on my machine. please help.

Most DESKTOP computers have a jumper to "clear CMOS settings",
but most NOTEBOOK computers do NOT have that jumper.

The password exists to protect the owner of the computer, should a thief be trying to use the computer.

You probably can remove the disk-drive, and copy the files onto a new computer, if you don't want to pay TOSHIBA to bypass the password.

WHAT DO I DO TO PUT A PASSWORD ON NOTEBOOK

When the notebook is loading, select the BIOS menu. Within the BIOS you will find the page with passwords on it.
Don't forget if you put a system or master password on it and forget the password, it is extremely difficult to et back into it!
Hope this helps.

Alf, you are asking about multiple issues with different computers in the same thread and also requesting off Forum help via email. This is just confusing and I don't see any way to help you other than pointing this out.
Good luck.
