I just bought the 260U2, same deal. Take it back and demand a discount for one that works. Bring your hard drive and confirm it in the store.

Cant delete or add new files to my NexStar.3, I have it connected to a MacBook Pro

If you can SEE the drive on your desktop but cannot modify it's contents there is a good chance it is formatted as NTFS which is a Microsoft Windows format. Mac's can only read/copy information from these drives and not write/delete/modify them. You have 2 choices, you can erase the drive and reformat it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (Mac/Linux only) or you can format it as MS-DOS (FAT32) which is truly cross platform but slower to read and write to from a Mac. To reformat the drive you use Apple's "Disk Utility" program in your utility folder.

My NexStar CX external drive worked fine until now. When I powered it up this time the power adapter turns a solid blue. Then when I turn the external drive on, the power adapter starts to flash a weak...

I had same symptoms. After wasting two hours, I finally found the HD not making good contact within the enclosure because I have not screwed it in with the frame. It must have broken the connection while I was handling the enclosure. So my suggestion is to check the simple stuff first - connections and loose cables, particularly within the enclosure.

I needed no drivers for my Windows XP Pro.

I have juast Bought a Nexstar-SX and I cannot insall Driver. I have Windows 7.

Hi renedelac825

No drivers are necessary when using Windows 7. If the hard drive
does not appear under My Computer, be sure to partition your hard drive.

Windows 7 NexStar drivers and installation needed

No device-drivers are needed. Just connect this USB device, and Windows will recognize it. If there is a "one-touch-backup" button, it won't work, but you can still use drag-and-drop to copy files from your internal disk-drive to this external disk-drive.

CPU won't read it im running xp

Ok, here's some step by step instructions.

First is the light on the nexstar coming on when you plug it in, if so what colour? If not try using both USB connectors on the PC end to plug in, it's possible you're not getting enough power if the light is not on as many 2.5" hdd enclosures require 2 USB connections one for power and data and the other for additional power.

Next, if the light is on but no drive in my computer, right-click on my computer, then left-click manage, select disk management from the MCC window that pops up. If your Nexstar HDD shows up here, identify it on the bottom part of the window and report back what is said there.

If it is not there and the light is on, try a different USB port. If the light is not on or you tried the other ports and still no luck the enclosure itself may have failed.

Try moving the HDD into a new enclosure and try again. If this works, Great, if not then the HDD may be damaged and may need a pro to get your files back. If that is the case report back here with your progress and region and I will recommend an appropriate pro.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris
