The unit is not a DVR capable of recording one channel and watching another. You can only watch or record one program at a time. Sorry.

Did you find a solution to this problem? We are having the same problem...
SOURCE: connect the magnavox zv457mg9 and the dvr side
Hi there,
I suspect you've used the audio out sockets on the back of the player that are exclusively for the DVD player. I've ringed these in red in the diagram below. For audio from both DVD and VCR, you need to use the audio out sockets for DVD/VCR which I've ringed in green.
I suspect this is the cause of the problem, but if you are using two connections from the player to the TV (one for DVD and one for VCR), the VCR will be on a different input to the DVD.
Hope this helps. If this does not solve the problem or you need further assistance, please let me know the model number of your TV and how the DVD/VCR player is connected to the TV. If you don't know the model number of the TV this can be found on a label on the back of the TV. Please reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.
Regards,
BElectric
