Question about Magnavox Televison & Video
I have an older Magnavox H2160MW9 unit that has been having power problems. At first, it would lose power while operating, then it just stopped powering up at all. I took it apart and discovered that if I disconnect the ribbon cable to the socket marked CN1 502 on the circuit board, it seems to power up fine. I am reluctant to hook it up to the TV to try it, as I don't know what this cable does and I don't want to risk damaging the television with a power surge or anything. I'm not even sure what the problem is, whether the cable is bad or if it is some other component in the circuit. Does anyone know 1 What this cable controls? 2 Whether it is safe to operate with the cable disconnected? and 3 How I can determine and possibly fix the specific problem with the unit? I really like the DVR and its features, and I cannot find anything comparable on the market today, so I would like to fix it if possible.
