ATI x1650 Pro Stops!?

I just bought an ATI x1650 Pro (512MB 128 bit AGP 8x) the other day. It ran smoothly at first but after a few minutes, my mouse and monitor just freezes and i had to hard restart.

im running at:

MSI K8M800 Neo-V
AMD64 2800+
2x 512MB DDR RAM
400W PSU

i previously ran a Radeon 9550 here. I'm not sure, but since it says ATI x1650 has 512DDR Memory, does it have something to do with my 1GB DDR or do i have to get a higher power supply?

Thanks!

Hello. I don't know who answer to that guy with x1650 AGP evidently someone who didn't even know what is AGP port. Look there are thousend and thousend people with such card of new generation on old AGP port like me (1950 pro 512DDR3) who can't play 2 min without black screen and hard restart and we are despert for solution. And please I had enough of **** like thats because of power suply etc. It's all about GR.CARD beleive me. In my PC is raptor, corsair memory 2 gig-dual channel, nForce 3 and Corsair PSU 600W(red one). Fix that and you deserve a monument from a forgotten AGP world. TKS

Also have the HIS x1650 pro agp, tried every driver out there same problem. Anytime I play a game that uses the gpu (Oblivion for example) it'll lock the machine a few minutes into it. I ended up going back to an older card. One thing I notice is how flipping hot that card got, I wonder it that isn't part of the problem.

The card you have is a PCI express 16X your board is for PCI express 8X. I think some cards can run at a slower speed but I believe you have the wrong card for your board

Looking to upgrade my graphic card one last time. Currently running a RADEON X850 AGP 8x. Dell XPS, 3 GHz Pent4 w/875P chipset.(800MHz Bus Clock, 400MHz DDR, Hyper-threaded (2)-- I would like the highest...

I wouldnt know whether you just like ATI Graphics cards, or it was recommended for you. But I would still give you my straight forward advice, and this is : Go for NVIDIA Ge-FORCE graphics cards. Trust me, you would thank me for it later.
I didnt want to recommend a specific model for you though, because of our difference in country locations, but just try and get a high memory (like 256MB and above), NVidia Graphics card that is compatible with your system. Also check out the available slot on your system that you will use for it first before you go (So that you wont go and get an AGP slot card when you have just an open PCI Slot). I'm telling you this because I've used A LOT of graphics cards also (Over 10 years now)! and I've come to that conclusion that NVIDIA makes the best graphics card.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck!

Can i run ati radeon x1650 512 on asus k8N motherboard

Yes you can run the AGP version of the Radeon 1650 pro on your system. It is always best & recommended to upgrade memory in pairs. You could upgrade to `gb by purchasing a 1 gb kit which would be 512 x 2. That way you have a matching pair of RAM modules. As for a cpu upgrade you can go to the Asus website and see what cpu's are supported by your motherboard. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

ATI x1650 Pro Stops!?

For this card they recomment at leat a power supply rating of 450 watts. If you have lower than this then I would suggest upgrading the power supply. A 550 watt psu is reasonably priced and should give you plenty of power for future use. Hope this helps.

ATI RADEON X1650 Pro, AGP Graphic Card 512MB compatibility

Maybe this post is a bit old, but on last deceber I bought an AGP 512MB ATI Radeon X1650 PRO for my Foxconn motherboard and I must say that it's simply awesome!
I can play most games on mid-high settings on reasonable resolutions (most on 1024x768) with good FPS (except with Crysis... but let's face it, did Crytek bought a time machine to warp a 2010 game??).
So, if you already have it, then congratulations, and if you still are thinking on buying it, then what are you waiting for!?
Also, it's AGP x8, if your motherboard support x8, then it should run perfectly fine.

Also, I have a bit of problems trying to run Prey on the X1650...
It always appears an error... it's not of much importance, as I have much better games, but I haven't tried it with high fancy graphics... :P
