Yes you can call Linksys about it if it is under warranty. Warranty is 3 years. Most likely just a configuration problem. Just give Linksys a call and they should be able to get you up and running

For this router you can use the Linksys range expander model WRE54G v3 take not of the version number that is important since the older range expander don;t work on all routers.
The range expander helps to extend the range of wireless network... Anyhow the range expander has to be placed withing the range of your Apple "wireless" router (Make sure your apple router is wireless router, if it is a wired router, then there is no use of range expander...! U need to buy an Access Point instead)... your range expander must be connected to the computer(using an ethernet cable) from which you are trying to configure... Site survey searches for the available wireless networks in range... It should show your existing wireless network... You need to select your appropriate network and you need to configure the Range expander wireless settings according to the Apple router's wireless settings... exactly the same SSID(Network name), Security type and encryption technique, password PSK (security key) has to be selected on your range expander as in the APPLE wireless router... Thats it... You are done... Your wireless network range would have extended now....
before anything else, can you please what is the version of range expander is is wre54g v1,v2,v3?
1) either which, please do verify your wireless settings of your DLINK router -- the network name or ssid -- security if you enabled any on your router -- wireless channel -- please check the default gateway of your router if it is 192.168.1.1
** please take note also that the best location for your expander would be inbetween your router and your computers
2) once you have gathered the wireless settings -- you would need to manually configure your expander coz it didnt work .. Please remember that the LINKsys expander is designed to work with linksys routers, so it may or may not work.. I just need to set your expectations on this ...
3) once you have verfied the default gateway of your DLink router ... please reply to this thread and let us proceed in configuring your wre...
I believe your using a WRE54G, but which version? The latest version has ethernet port so you can connect it directly to a pc to set it up.
Try to access the expander's set up page by typing its address of 192.168.1.240 and you will be able to configure it from there.
Before you plug it in the wall, insert the installation disc and go through their tutorial. When you do that you'll plug in your range expander, press the auto configuration button on the side and wait for both lights to turn up blue. Then you can unplug the range expander and put it else where.
