The problem is not Vista, the problem is the Netgear. I have seen this happen time and time again with both Netgear (primarily) and D-Link (often). That's why I *only* recommend Linksys.
Worst case - go buy one from Walmart (yes, they have 'em). Hook it up and see the difference. If, somehow, the problem persists, take it back, and you've lost nothing. But I'd bet (as they say down here in the South "dollars to doughnuts") that's your problem :)
Hope this helps - remember to rate :)

Is your laptop running Vista and the desktops running Windows XP or they all running the same software??? Also your problem is the fios router they come set up to be on a automatic channel search so there always searching for the best channel and you probably live in a brick house....Go to the settings for the router you can get to them easy with the software they downloaded to your computer its the fios help icon on your desktop and you can change the routers channel go to 7 or 11... If you have any questions just let me know also please rate me if you get a chance..
Thanks,
Steve

Log into the Belkin router and make sure that the DHCP services are running. If it is, and you still are not getting addresses, perform a factory reset of the router. There is a link in the web management console to do this.
SOURCE: My Toshiba Satellite P10-S429 harddrive is not
Hi
Thank you for your query
Unfortunatley that noise you are hearing is the hard drive on its way out, the arm that normally reads the metal type discs in the inside is now knocking against them and thus the noise
If you still wish to reseat, if you turn the laptop over on the bottom there will be a symbol like cylinder barrel, this is where the hard drive is.
to remove it ensure there is no power going ot th elaptop and the battery has been removed, undo 2 or 4 screws (depending on the model) and remove the plastic panel, then simply take the hard drive out give the connectors both end a good clean and seat back. Put the cover back on and screws back in
I still believe the hard drive is faulty and you can either purchase another one and replcae yourself as mentioned above or alternativley book it into a reputable PC shop
You will also need to reinstall windows if the hard drive is replaced
If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial as this will help me greatly - Thank you again
