I have a Minolta Compact II binoculars. I haven't used it for a while and now the focus wheel is stucked. I can barely move it. What can I do? Will "WD-40" solve the problem? Thank you so much for your help.

I just bought a pair of this model and had the same problem. l muscled the focus knob repeatedly right to left and back until it finally began to move ever so slightly but progressively until it rotated freely from stop left to stop right. Very good optics and ficus range complimented by adjustable diopter. Had it not given in to my stubborn strong thumb finger grip efforts, I would have resorted to a solvent lubricant. Glad it wasn't necessary. Mike-Florida

SOURCE: Minolta Compact AF 8 binocular continually focussing

My Binos are doing the same thing, I think it is some fixed mode it is stuck in. Anyone know how to get is back to normal working? Maybe the big AF button is stuck on?

Help please as I can't find my instruction manual.

It was a gift and i have no idea how to use it(AF 10 compact)

Oh, neat! Autofocus binoculars, they run off the same lithium batteries used in cameras (just like an autofocus camera, without the film). Minolta got out of the business in 2006, so unfortunately unable to find a manual, but this eBay listing (for a slightly less powerful unit) covers the basics pretty well.

Minolta Binoculars Autofocus 8X22 6 5 RARE WORKING eBay

From the listing:
Holding down the large button continuously focuses on the subject. The two smaller buttons are to focus manually. Minimum focus distance is about 6 feet. Eyepiece spacing adjustment is with the sliding bar that has a locking lever on the bottom side. Individual diopter adjustment is with the two sliding bars on the bottom, to match each eye to the autofocus.

How do I fix the focusing knob not working on minolta compact II binoculars 10x25L?

When you say not working, is it not achieving accurate focus when turned, or just not rotating at all ?

8x25 minolta compact bionoculars center focus knob will not turn. Have taken screw off center knob and removed 4 rubber strips on bionocular body and looks like allen? screw underneath. No obvious way...

They don't make these things easy to take apart, or fix. Here's your best shot- take it into a camera repair shop, and see what they say. Some tech might know what you have to do to get it apart, or if it can come apart without damage or special tools.
Unfortunately, only the repair techs know how, and there aren't too many (if any) of them, since they often just charge a set amount and send a refurbished or new pair to the customer.
Wish I had a more specific answer, but good luck to you, and with just a bit, you'll figure this out.

Stiff focus wheel

The number one rule is to never use oil on a binocular!!
I suspect that the multistart thread on the focus arm carrier, which is internal, has become gunged up. This is not an easy repair for a beginner. The rubber has to be removed from the body of the binocular before you can even start to take them apart to determine the fault.
Like any bearing or gear system, the part would have to be cleaned with a degreaser, then reassembled with new lubricant.

How to focus my Zeiss 10x40B TP binoculars

Your binoculars are known as the Zeiss Classic or what was once known as the Dialyt. They focus differently from the usual binoculars like those mentioned. The rear wheel is to focus both binocular barrels while using them. The front focus wheel is adjust the right eyepiece to suit your right eye. Binocular manufacturers take into account each eye is slightly different. To focus the Dialyt...First close your right eye and turn the rear wheel until the image is sharp in the left barrel. Leave the focus wheel alone. Now close left eye and adjust the front wheel until the image is sharp for your right eye. The image should now be clear and in focus for both eyes. It should not be needed to use the front wheel from now on. The rear wheel is what you will use to change the focus from near to far objects.

Binocular Loss Of Fluid

I never figured out how to fix it but I bought them at REI and they were able to find the receipt and get a warranty repair. One problem is Minolta no longer makes binoculars so a service center takes care of warranties. The Minolta site has details.
