Hi, i have an ac925efy delonghi microwave oven, i bought it manufacturer refurbished and when i switched it on there was a big bang and a flash. it came from what looked to be the back top right hand corner. since then i can switch it on and it works but does not heat up. could you shed any light on this please.

oh ya man the heating coil is damaged so you have to change it.

Google of AC925EFY shows it as Delonghi as well as Contempo.

You must remove the outer cabinet from the Microwave to access the bulb. Remove every screw top, sides and bottom and slide the cabinet off.

That was the magnetron tube breaking. Too expensive to fix. Better to go and buy a new microwave.

Take it back to the store, there is nothing you can do, this is a manufacture issue.

This indicates a triac switching semiconductor problem, the triac is a switching device that allows the microwave oven to run on different power settings, if the defrost cycle is running on a higher power level it is most likely the semiconductor, but the possibility remains that the keypad control board may be the issue.

please dont use this microwave any more its about to go with a very big bang and maybe a bright flash??? my bet is the capacitor is leaking, thats why it smells? realy what you have here is a fire wating to get started, fed by the 1000,s of volts stored in the cap thats just bursting to get out, and its going to very soon, all in one go too!!!! trust me,,, when the cap blows its going to sound like a very big rifle has been fired off in your kitchen, and if you think it smells now???? wate and see what it smells like after its gone bang!!!! its a comon fult,,,,,bump it now!
