PT-47WX53 - Visible Convergence Fault
You need to open the TV. Remove the deflection printed circuit board, access and replace the convergence ICs. Maybe some low ohm resistors are burnt as well. Change those too.
Make sure you do not do any damage to the connections or foil on the printed circuit board. Don't crack the board while breaking loose the ICs.
Also be careful to re-connect all the plugs and the inter-connects between the boards. Don't damage the plugs or connectors. Make sure you put them all back in the correct sockets.
After replacing everything and re-assembling, turn-on and stand back. Look for smoke. If no smoke, look at the picture and see how you have done. Use the auto-convergence if it is available auto-convergence should adjust the convergence grid to an acceptable level. Usually minor touch-up of user's manual convergence adjust screen is all you
need to get a good picture. If the customer controls or auto-focus do not work correctly, you have
not completed repair.
Do not attempt accessing and fiddling with the service screen unless it
is absolutely required.
If there are still problems, get professional service help. Many of the ICs sold by the discount "Shopping Cart" One Stop Kit sites are bogus. They do not work.
Many times consumers buy the New and Improved" IC kits that are offered. Don't even think about it. All low ohm resistors will have to be changed. Many opportunities for damage and misadventure. Your Upgrade kit supplier is re-designing the TV that Panasonic spent millions of dollars perfecting.
Many consumers try to do a convergence repair and TVs become scrap. Check out the TV help blogs, most start with "I installed a set of ICs I purchased on the web, changed resistors as well, Now the TV has a poorer picture than before or it will not start."
If you have no electronics experience or training the chances of success are similar to do-it-yourself brain surgery in a Peruvian jungle with a sharpened arrowhead.
Call local service that knows your Panasonic TV. Ask for price before he comes out. If he won't give a firm estimate for on-site "convergence" repair, call someone else.
