May samsung sc-148c can read any cd disk but it can't read dvd's. i tried to put dvd movies and blank dvd but it says insert a disk. i tried to update the driver, reboot but nothing happens. i tried to uninstall the IDE ATA/ATAPI but nothing happens too. i hope you can solve my problem.

Unfortunately the Nintendo Wii cannot play any DVD movies or music CDs.

You can also verify the users manual. Mostly you can see some code in the CD-ROM like: DVD-RW= Can write CD and DVD DVD-R= Can only read DVD's CD-R= Can only read cd's. CD-RW- Can write CD's only.

try with next dvd which is burnt in less than 16x speed then check what happens.

It sounds as if either the power cable on the back of the drive has come loose, check first before going further, if that is still connected then the most likely scenario is that the drive died. You can pick up cd or dvd burner at any computer store for around $30 max. Hope this helps.

If it's not a SATA drive try to set your IDE Controller in Device Manager to use DMA mode not the PIO. If it won't help try to find updated firmware for your drive and install it. Read Carefully Installation Manual Before! If it won't help that's a sign that your PC wants you to upgrade it with DVD/RW instead.

I'm very late to your question, but the problem is that this drive doesn't burn DVDs (i.e., it was not designed to do that). It's a CD-RW, DVD-ROM (read only).

If you have the sony CD RW DVD ROM then you can't burn the data in a blank DVD.

Because your Configuration is :
Read : CD / DVD
Write : CD

This means you have a combo drive. But to burn a DVD you should have DVD RW.

Its a dvd-rom drive. READ ONLY MEMORY.

That drive will not burn a dvd...it has to say dvd-r/dvd-rw.
or be referred to as a super drive.
