Yes, the water has to go further up hill sapping gravity, also the splash strainer is more efficient reducing the flow to prevent water splashing and filling the water stream with more air.

We just installed a moen shower faucet. Water pressure is almost nil. It's a brand new house so debris and other things should not be a factor. When the faucet is removed the water pressure is back...

There's a clog in the shut off, line to faucet, or in the faucet cartridge ... hook it up to a supply tube on another faucet, it connect to a garden hose to check if faucet is problem.

When I tgurn on the hot water on our American Standard Gooseneck Cadet with sprayer it sclunks and then shuts off. Is this diverter problem or do i need a new cartridge?

Without seeing it I have to go by your descrption and my first guess would be the diverter. I would replace it and see if that does the trick.

No water flow in gooseneck faucet

Sounds like the diverter part (insode the faucet) is clogged or broken.
