Can you be more specific? There can be several reasons for this. Pedal arms can be worn out, hub in fan can need overhauling. Does the chain move with the pedals? Are the pedal arms loose or the pedals themselves? Pedal hub could also need overhauling. If the overhauling seems to be the issue, best bet would be to take the machine to a local Bike shop, If you're pretty handy, and can do the repair yourself, give me more specific details and I can suggest better instructions on repair.

it is where the pedal attaches inside (like an axel), the bushing has come undone - inside of a bolt - it is unthreaded. Not sure how to tighten it back on due to it being threaded on both sides - not sure should use a wrench - also not sure if have to attache to the actual pedal. more noticeable when i peddle backwards - becomes more unstable. Hope that helps

It's been a while since I've worked on this, Usually, when that mechanism comes loose, you can tighten it back up again on both sides and it should have a lock nut to secure it. But, it usually requires wrenches that you buy from a Schwinn dealer or a Bike shop. I am new to this sight, can you submit a close up picture to help me understand better? As I'm re-reading this, the threads may have been worn out due to use while being used. Let me investigate a little bit. I'll reply again in a day or so. I will let you know what I find out. I have an idea. I'll write back soon.

Go to Krislynn.net click on Airdyne parts on the left. you need part: AD4 Cartridge w/ lock ring price from this site is 87.99. The part close up is number 50 in the diagram. Let me know if this is the assembly that is giving you the problem. If not, they should show you what parts you may need. Hope this helps you. Mike

My problem is very similar on an Airdyne Evo, the lock ring loosens up but I cannot get the pedal arm off the shaft after removing the retaining bolt. Also I assume it is some sort of special spline tool to tighten down the retaining ring. Anyone know if those can be bought or how to remove the cam and pedal arm?

How to fix brake stuck in down position on Troy Bilt riding mower?

If the brake on your Troy Bilt riding mower is stuck in the down position, here are a few things you can try to fix the problem:
  1. Check the brake pedal and make sure that it is not jammed or stuck. If it is, try to free it by gently pushing and pulling the pedal.
  2. Check the brake cable for any signs of wear or damage. If the cable is frayed or broken, it will need to be replaced.
  3. Check the brake lever and make sure that it is properly adjusted. If the brake lever is too tight, it may be preventing the brake pedal from releasing.
  4. Inspect the brake mechanism, if you see any signs of wear or damage, it may need to be replaced.
  5. Make sure that the brake linkages are properly lubricated, if they are dry and rusty, they may be stuck.
  6. If none of the above solutions work, it is recommended to contact a professional mechanic or the manufacturer's customer service for further assistance.

UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR
LEVER STUCK, LOOSE OR ONLY SHIFTS 1 WAY (either up or down)

Check that its not just the gear pedal either stuck on its pivot shaft due to corrosion, & that it is not just spinning round on the gear change shaft
If stuck in gear, try rocking the bike back & forward while moving the pedal up & down
If not then its probably the gear selector mechanism - hopefully on the accessible part.
If the gearbox only shifts 1 way then its probably just a broken / dislodged spring on the claw mechanism.

Remove the right-hand engine cover & check that the shift shaft operates the claw (which turns the gear selector drum) & that all springs etc are OK.
Otherwise its on the internal part of the selector mechanism either the shift drum is stuck or more likely the shift forks are worn or broken. Either way it will require a full engine strip

My tractor will not restart. When you turn the key, no sound at all. A mechanic once fixed it by doing something under the floor or pedal area

He probably fixing a safety switch. A wire or plug loose or etc. Check your wiring. Your manual may have a wiring diagram.

Run for 2 feet and stop and resart 10 second later

sounds like a loose shifter switch or foot pedal switch, try lifting the rear of the vehicle and then hit the gas pedal and see if it runs longer, if it does then your switches just need to be seated better

I have a Trek Lime bike with automatic shifter and it doesn't shift up quickly enough especially when riding slowly.

The automatic shifter mechanism on these bikes is driven by centrifugal force of weights near the rear axle. As they spin, they expand and move you to a higher gear. Although it's not a precise relationship, the mechanism is designed to shift to a gear that will give you a pretty constant pedal rpm - probably around 50 rpm. - regardless of the speed that the bike is moving. This is because as you ride longer distances your legs are most efficient at pedaling at a fairly constant speed (bikers call this cadence). Bikers who ride a lot find that these automatic shifters tend to keep you pedaling too slow (they find 70 rpm or even higher to be a better cadence.) However, if the cadence is too fast for you, you could alter the shift pattern by adding a bit more weight to the weights that are already there. You could do this with fishing weights and wire ties. This would give you a slower cadence. But as you ride the bike more you will probably find that you will want to remove the extra weights. I suggest that you keep riding without adding the weights and you will find that the preset cadence becomes more comfortable with time. It is also easier on your knees to have a faster cadence with lower pedal pressure. Good luck, Al K

CANNOT CHANGE INTO 3 GEAR SHAFT SEEMS TO HAVE A LOT OF MOVEMENT AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE INSIDE BOX

Before stripping the gearbox be sure it isnt just the gearshift pedal rotating slightly on its shaft. The splines on the shaft will ruin the pedal if its not tightened correctly.
Otherwise it could be the gear selector mechanism. The spring on the shift claw or detent arm may be broken.
Check it out by rotating the rear wheel whilst the bike is turned off & on its main stand, then select each gear by hand with the pedal.

Good Luck
Hope this helps.

I just put together a Peg perego Polaris RZR ride on toy and it will go forward, but not reverse. The light showing a full battery goes OFF when I try to put it in reverse. Any ideas? Is there a loose wire...

For this Peg Perego Razor model, some of them have a lever that slips over the foot pedal to keep it from going in reverse for safety reasons.
I would check the foot pedal and see if it has one.
Let me know what you find.
