After storing it for more than a year, I used my Olympus C-170, however, the message " Battery Empty" always appear on the viewfinder everytime I switch it on. I replace it with new batteries but the problem still persists. Thanks.

Read Page 15 on the manual , but first of all use always in priority the updated software from internet, last but not least for many people remarkable also the importance of the update of the firmware to get the best adjusment possibility very important to know the right model AND important the revisionnumber belong to it of your product and read carefully before firmwareupdates beware firmware is a different link right behind the first link https://onboardvideo.com.ua/download/hd170-user-manual.pdf
Hi, well this is a pretty common problem, with this and many other cameras of a similar sort, what happens is that inside there is a power conditioner circuit, components, usually a "pass" transistor in this circuit partially fault, and increase the current draw from the battery dramatically, and this causes it to go "Flat" very quickly.
There is little that can be done DIY, what has to be done is to take the camera to an Olympus service center, and ask for a "Quote" for the repair. Then you can make an informed decision as to what to do, repair or replace.
Charge your battery using its data cable. If it is not charged check your charger. Now if your charger also good. Then buy a new company branded battery and replace it
SLR cameras are meant to be used with the viewfinder, not live view. Live View on SLR's is a luxury that point and shoot users have come to expect, sadly. I suggest you start using the viewfinder and disregard the live view altogether, since it doesn't always give you an accurate representation of what the photo will turn out like, and it consumes battery power at a ridiculous rate.
The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor inside the lens assembly. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.
Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $61 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.
on rechargeable batteries, check the mAh on the side, you would need to be about 2300 or more. also the shelf life on some rechargeables may be less than desireable... try lithium digital
Ive had the same problem with my camera and found that it was the quality of the batterys. you have to use good quality high drain batterys for digital cameras.
When you press the “T” zoom button, the image in the viewfinder will become closer. However, since the D-435 uses a digital zoom, the lens doesn't physically zoom, it takes the existing image and enlarges your image using an electronic program. This can result in a “noisy” or “grainy” look to the image. This normal when using the digital zoom.
