Wired a new 360 through Hum blew 3amp fuse. How to wire so it doesn't blow fuse. Have open EAC and EAC2.

Without knowing the exact humidifier and how it's wired one can only guess.

There are many different ways to wire a humidifier, one method involves the use of a current sensing relay monitoring the operation of the furnace fan motor. Another uses the HUM terminals on the furnace to control the humidifier.

Has the humidifier ever worked properly? If so, a component has failed. If not, it wired incorrectly and you need to refer back to your installation manual.

Somewhere in the mess you have described there is a short that is compelling the transformer to put out more current than what it is designed for. It gets hot, really overheats, insulation melts, and the wires melt. Ergo blown transformer.Problem is with whatever that unit is plugged into/powering..

I believe that Carrier has a 24 volt setup for humidifier but am not sure. On the circuit board I think there is a terminal (HUM). If there is this terminal connect 1 wire to this and 1 wire to C terminal.
If not,pretty sure there is a 120 volt EAC terminal. This would only kick on when blower is on. If you have to use this you would have to install transformer to the EAC connections

To me it sounds like it is wired incorrectly, the solenoid should NOT get too hot at all. The PDF above shows wiring data.

If you don't have a volt meter, purchase one. I've seen them as low as $20.00 at Sears and even lower at Home Depot and other discount stores. The HUM terminals are most likely low voltage (24v). The "N" is the neutral. Assuming you have confirmed this is low voltage (24v, you will use HUM and "N" terminals. This control sequence is typically to allow for operation of your humidifier only when there is a call for your fan to run. The brown wires coming from your Humidifier are your low voltage circuit. One should be directly wired to "N". The other should be ran to your humidistat. The other side of the switch of your humidistat should be wired to the HUM terminal.

This might have a bad valve,or It could be mis-wired.It should be wired to common and hum on the control board.You can test By checking the voltage when the unit is off,and valve should be closed. Good Luck --Nate

it is best to use a seperate transformer for the hummidifier, but in some cases you can use the low voltage t-stat wire that runs your furnace, you will need to have one wire run to common, and the other to the heating side of your low voltage, normally its the red wire hooked to the w circuit of your terminal board, if you do decide to go with an extra transformer, make sure you you have it wired to bring on the humidifier only when the unit calls for heat, hope that helps

Sounds like you Connected the humid trans fromer directly to a main power source. It should be either on the EAC or HUM term on the board of the furnace.

control board has eac terminal . will provide 110v to hum transformer anytime fan running.

also can pick up current sensing relay to sense blower power up and will then power the Hum. transformer.

See if you have a screw marked EAC This to power an Electronic Air Cleaner unlike the HUM it also gets 120VAC only when the fan comes on. Not sure what make of furnace you have but if your heat is working OK don'tn change the control board the can be very expensive. there are other ways to wire humidifiers without using the HUN screw
