I locked my daughters HTC magic by keying in the wrong pattern on her security key. the phone has been locked for 3 hours and she cant remember the google account she set it up with. How can she unlock the phone?

TWO POSSIBLE WAYS :
1. SIMPLE
2. COMPLEX ( FULL RESET )

1. SIMPLE STEP
1. Open the emergency call
2. DIAL *#*#7378423#*#*
3. A menu with 3 or 4 options will appear

• SERVICE INFO
• SERVICE TEST
• CUSTOMIZATION SETTINGS

4. Select CUSTOMIZATION SETTINGS .
5. Inside customization select RESET CUSTOMIZATION.
6. Restart the phone it may work

2. COMPLEX ( FULL RESET )
The last possible way is just flashing the phone and resetting as new one
1. In your PC or LAPTOP
Go to PC companion -> select phone update without connecting your phone.
2. Select your device and download the update (DONOT CONNECT PHONE)
3. When the download completes it will prompt for connecting you phone.
4. Before that phone must be switched OFF (donot turn on).
JUST PRESS DOWN THE VOLUME DOWN KEY AND CONNECT THE USB CABLE.
5. The Phone's LED will glow green and the update for phone will start.
6. After the update completes you will get the phone as an fresh new Operating System.
(WARNING - YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR DATAS AND GET A FRESH START)

You can format your mobile for factory condition. the method is given bellow

1. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
2. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button. All data will be lost!

There are 2 solutions for your problem.
For the first one you need to have your google account signed in on the phone.
1. Press the forgot pattern?
2. Enter the username and passwordf of your account and sign in.
3. You will be asked to create a new pattern.

Now the solution if you don't have your google account on the phone.
1. Remove the batter from the phone and wait couple of seconds.
2. Put the batter back in the phone.
3. Hold the VOLUME UP key on your phone and turn your phone ON at the same time.
4. Now you will see a menu appear and you need to use the VOLUME DOWN key to move down on the menu until you get to CLEAR STORAGE and then you press the power key and then press the VOLUME UP key.
5. The reset should now be complete.

NOTE: Keep in mind that the second option will erase all the data that is stored on your phone.

if you forgot your pattern lock, just give few more tries to continue wrong efforts. at an instant, the OS will report 'attempts exceeded, enter with your gmail'. at this point just enter your email address and in the textbox for password just give value as 'NULL'. this will instantly ask for new pattern lock and you are done!

This happens to me a lot. Don't worry let it die out from battery, plug it in then switch it on and it should work. If it doesn't work it might be time to get a knew one!

try to hard reset your phone.by doing this you will loose everthing from your phone.that will erase everthing from your phone and phone will start with everything new.
follow this step.
1 while your phone off keep hold volume down key and just press powe button.
2. keep hold the volum down button until you see the android image.at that time release key.
3. press volume down to select clear storage and then press power button
phone will restrat and you can setup everything again.

If you have forgotten the screen unlock pattern, you have up to five attempts to try and unlock your phone. If this fails, you can unlock HTC Inspire 4G by entering your Google Account user name and password.

1. On the unlock screen, attempt to enter your unlock pattern five times.
2. When prompted to wait for 30 seconds, tap OK.
3. If the display goes off, press the POWER button to turn the display back on, and then press the bar on the lock screen and slide your finger down to unlock the screen.
4. Tap the Forgot Pattern button in the lower right corner when it appears.
5. Enter your Google Account name and password, and then tap Sign in.

You are then prompted to create a new screen unlock pattern. If you no longer want to use a screen unlock pattern to secure your phone, tap Cancel.
Follow that instruction step by step and if you success you get your HTC unlocked, remember read that instruction carefully, if you did wrong step you will not allowed to enter your google account.

I have just experienced the same problem. After 4 calls and an hour on hold, a warranty representative is going to send me replacement cylinders. I am not happy since 3 of the 4 locksets are already installed. My wife and daughter were locked out for 3 hours!!! Would not recommend this product!

you probably need to do a hard reset, which will unfortunately, restore your phone to the factory defaults.

1. Power off the G1
2. Hold Home Key + End key for 20 seconds or until you see a "triangle with an exclamation point and a picture of the G1"
3. Open the QWERTY keyboard and hit Alt+W
4. Just like new.
