I have a Gigabyte G31M-ES2L mainboard. I cannot get front panel jack to work. These are the pins coming from jacks: MIC Data, GND, MIC VCC (power), Ear R with an extended Ear R, and Ear L with an extended Ear L. The manual shows HD front panel as MIC2-L, GND, MIC2-R, ACZ_Det, Line2-R, Faudio_JD, GND, Line2_L, Faudio_JD. For AC'97 front panel shows MIC, GND, MIC Power, Line Out R, Line Out L. Is there something else I am not doing?

How can i setteled the front panal usb pin connect on the usb panal on motherboard gigabyte845 gvm-rz

There are 2 USB Ports for the Front Panel USB ie F_USB1 / F_USB2 beside the "PWR_LED". You can use either F_USB ports. Just plug in the USB cable pin accordingly in the Configuration below. Be sure the the negative & positve pins are correctly plug in or it might caused damage to you Mainboard. (Pins 9 &10 not used). For further reference you can download the manual @ Link

Pin No.- Configuration
1-Power 2-Power
3-USBDx- 4-USBDy-
5-USBDx+ 6-USBDy+
7-GND 8-GND
9-No pin 10-NC

Hope it helps.

I have a motherboard biostar G31-M7 TE , the front audio connector is : 1. Mic Left in , 2. Ground , 3. Mic Right in , 4. GPIO , 5. Right line in , 6. Jack Sense , 7.Front Sense , 8. no pin , 9. Left line...

Intel G31 is tech, from year. Aug 2008
learn audio drivers come from only 2 places
the OS PnP servers at microsoft
or from oEM BIOSTAR.
the motherboard is DIY grade and that means the manual covers all that. did you RTM the manual first.
no PC case told. at all, and mixing OEM cases with mobo will fail here, for those jacks front not any kind of industry standard at all
the rear work so why not use those?

those front cables are custom, jack sense only works on the maker of the CASE not told the OEM case and model not told by you.
dell,hp or who?
worse yet that mobo has no front panel feature at all
proof here.

just use rear, abondon old OEM case front audio.
or buy a real DYI case what large slow quiet fans and win.

Hello. When I plug my headphone with mic into the front panel jacks, it does not work. Now if I disconnect my speakers and plug it in the back jacks, it will work. However, the front joacks are there for...

Open up your case.
You should see cables running from the front panel to the motherboard. On the motherboard you will see a multi-pin connector. What is your exact ASUS motherboard model? Here's a generic ASUS one. You will see this on the motherboard where the front panel connects to the board. A bunch of pins will terminate here.

99e1753.jpg

Notice the pin labelled MIC. You will see GND etched on the motherboard. Use this to orient yourself. The Mic one is just below the GND pin. Connect it here. Notice the entire top row is devoted to FP_Audio or Front panel Audio. There are other places to connect it (e.g., if you just want stereo sound, there's a left and right FP_R and FP_L).

Move the mic connector over to the Mic pin if there is one. If not, you can get a cable at your local computer supply shop. As you can tell from the others, they are very basic wires with simple terminals.

HOW TO CONNECT FRONT AUDIO PINS

the connector is marked F_audio and it is located directly behind the rear facing audio jacks. should be only one plug either marked "hd audio" OR "ac97 audio". some cases are setup for either, but you only need one of them depending on what your motherboard supports.

11) F_AUDIO (Front Audio Connector)
This connector supports either HD (High Definition) or AC97 front panel audio module. If you wish
to use the front audio function, connect the front panel audio module to this connector. Check the pin
assignments carefully while you connect the front panel audio module. Incorrect connection
between the module and connector will make the audio device unable to work or even damage it.
For optional front panel audio module, please contact your chassis manufacturer.
By default, the audio driver is configured to support HD Audio. To connect an AC97 front panel
audio module to this connector, please refer to the instructions on page 72 about the software
settings.

Emachine t1840 wiring diagram power switch wire to mother board ?

Because there are so many different case and motherboard combinations sometimes it can be difficult following the instructions for connecting the front panel, USB header and audio header.

Below is a few generic guide that should stop some of the confusion with the labels on the wires.

***Please note this is a generic wiring guide and we can not guarantee it will work with every motherboard. Please check your motherboard manual first. Wiring the headers wrong can cause damage to the motherboard and case, this damage is not covered by the warranty***

another handy USB wiring guide can be found here http://www.directron.com/installusb.html

this maybe easier to follow

Usb not working

front USB ports are an extension of a header on the mainboard, it connects via a bunch on individual pins, if any of these pins are wrong the front USB will not work, but usually this would lock up all USB and the ones on the back will not work either, i would suggest the front USB panel was either not connected at all, or it was conected wrong, usual USB header colors of wores is BLACK, GREEN, WHITE, RED, note all mainboards are different, so the black could start from either side of the header, b sure to refer to your motherboards manual for exact pin loactions on the header
