Mitsubishi WS-65611 65" Rear Projection Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 28, 2010

Ws 65611 will not play HD channels. Screen gets fuzzy like it is trying to focus, then converts to blue screen that states "Check connections or power. The connections for RGBHV or YPrPb invalid" I have checked cable connections and TV settings and they are both set to YPrPb

Verified input set to DTV. Still only standard channels work, not HD

This model only has one HD input---it has two sets of component inputs on the back and one is marked 480/1080----in the menu it will be the DTV input.

Check to make sure you are not connected to the other component input.

Let me know what happens and let me know exactly where you are connected and what are using for signal.

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

    TWO POSSIBLE REASONS:

Source for HD signal bad or cables used. I presume you are using a box of some kind for this.

If it goes to the DTV input the second choice would be to try hard reset of the set--usually if this is needed set will not go to certain inputs.

Set has 3 hidden menus, Tech adjust, Convergence, and OPTION MENU.

All are accessed with 4 digit number via the original remote. I know the codes and can tell them to you.

Option menu resets tv to condition it was when new in the box.

I suspect problem is not set but with source of signal to set.

Does this tv need a converter box or can I just use an antenna for over the air channels???

Most likely it needs a converter box. To see for sure, just turn it on and look at the channel type.

1. Channels are displayed as decimals, such as 17.1, 17.2, 17.3, 18.1, 18.2, etc. In this case it's a digital TV which needs only an antenna. Also usually TVs like this display no signal as a blue or black screen, though sometimes they can have the fuzzy gray screen.

2. Channels are displayed only as single numbers, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Most likely the screen is gray and fuzzy, maybe making a loud fizzy noise, when you have no signal. It's an analog TV and you need a converter box.

Ws-65611 color shadows

You need to turn down the voltage on all 3 crt's. You have a red one, a blue one and a green one. Slowly adjust the knob down until you don't see the shadow any more. Then adjust your color in the user menu.

We have direct tv, the other day while attempting to format our mitsubishi tv from the direct tv remote something went wrong and we lost about 20 channels from our regular and direct tv. Now when we swtich...

I would start with the DirecTV unit first and set the resolution back to 480i. This can be done in the menu or with a button on the front of the receiver, all modes are shown on the front of the unit. It's not uncommon to get that message when using the DTV input on MITS tv's, it's just a formatting glitch...but a bit annoying. Your set may not decode 720p resolution so I suspect those channels that broadcast that format may be your problem.

Mitsubishi WS-65611 Repair kit from TV-Repairkits.com no fix.....

I have a few ideas but they all will require some more information from you. I know these sets very well-if you fixed the convergence problem my hat is off to you--it can be a do it yourself job but not the most easy set to do it on.

Let me assume you adjusted the convergence in the customer mode--it does on any of the HD models have to be adjusted in the regular and then the HD modes.

The only other thing here that may be the problem is FOCUS. A simple way to determine this is to remove the back cover--turn the set on and call up the advanced convergence grid---then cover the lens for each tube one at a time--with red and blue lens covered are the lines in sharp focus or look blurry?

Repeat this with only red or blue not covered and see what you think--if one of the tubes is out of focus you will see it there--

There is also a TECH menu for adjusting the convergence-like the customer menu but it saves the adjustments into the set's memory--you will need to hit menu and a four digit code based on the actual model number of the set.

Check to see if focus is or is not your problem-easy to tell--green, red, blue lines will either be sharp or out of focus--if out ask and I will tell you the simple way to adjust that.

If this information has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

How to fix fuzzy pic & red, blue, green lines on your screen?

Typically this is due to a convergence chip failure. This repair can be done pretty easy with the proper instruction. Have a look at this video to help determine if you truly have a convergence problem.

My ws-65611 always stay in 480i even with HD signal.

If you are using the component connection, make sure you are connected to the one that will support 1080i. If that is not the problem, make sure that the HD receiver is outputting 1080i and not 720p. No RPCRT will support 720p and the video may be down-rezed to 480 since this is the case.
