Question: Why will my nüvi 2xx not find satellite signals?
Answer:
p>If your nuvi 2xx is not acquiring satellite signals, you may need to download and run our WebUpdater program.

If you are still having issues after updating the software on your unit, you may need to do a full master reset. Please note that a master reset erases Favorites and waypoints. Before proceeding, you may want to back up information you want to keep.
To do a full master reset to the nuvi 200 series unit:
1. Turn off the device.
2. Place your fingertip or the eraser end of a pencil in the bottom right corner of the touchscreen.
3. Apply pressure in the bottom right corner of the screen.
4. While pressing down on the screen, power on the unit and continue pressing on the screen. A message displays to confirm that you really want to delete all user data.
5. Touch Yes.
6. Your unit restarts automatically. You must go through the set up procedure again.
Once you complete the reset, place the nuvi unit outside where it has a clear unobstructed view of the sky for 15-30 minutes. Keep it in a stationary position until it reacquires satellites.
Sorry folks, I think the RF unit in the 200W is vastly inferior to the 200. I just received a Nuvi 200 in the mail from a Discover card offer, and it works great. I did the updates and reset as advised. I turn them both on, set them side by side, and the 200 locks on to satellites in seconds. The 200w takes over 10 minutes. I suspect a design flaw. I purchased my 200w back in Nov. 2007, maybe they have quietly upgraded the RF unit so that new customers won't be so unhappy.
Remain in a fixed position for 60 seconds or more.

same problem, no bars... can't locate satellite.. my 3rd unit all with the same issue- likely ferm ware problem- would not rocommend anyone buy this model
Mine says locating satellites. Will stop on a major Hwy and still nothing. it has one bar and can take over and hour to locate and sometimes it never does. I even hit reset thinking that might work. Any Idea whats going on and how to fix it?
The same!!! It's a hell!
Same thing. I've had mine for three weeks now and only had it find the
satellites about 50% of the time. I updated the software about a week
after I got it, but it still has problems locating satellites.
same thing... sometimes finds satelitte quickly, most of the time does not
I have the same problem too. It worked fine for about a week and now it takes about 30 minutes after turning on to find a satellite no matter where I am. I HATE IT!!!!
I have the same problem when turn on my Nuvi 200W it takes 15 to 20 minutes to find the sattelites. When you need to go somewhere the only solution is to keep it on all the time.
same problem from day one - sucks!
It finds satellites in about 20-30 secs in the country but takes over 10 minutes in downtown Boston.
We recently drove in Arizona with our nuvi 200W Series GPS. We got the "lost satellite" message many times throughout the state. What can we do to prevent this?
We drove for an hour and it did not connect. I almost threw it out the window.
