Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2.0 Logo
Posted on Sep 16, 2010

The problem with my microsoft 6000 v2.0 keyboard is this. I have changed batteries (4x with brand new), the light on keyboard comes on, then after about a minute, the light goes off and keyboard does not work. I have tried pushing reset button on bottom of keyboard to resync....light will still not come on. Have tried rebooting computer..still no luck. Mouse does work, just not keyboard. (I am sending this from another computer in case you were wondering how I am typing..LOL). Any assistance would be appreciated.

Not to sound patronizing, did you push the buttons in the order it requires you to? The sequesnce and timing is important. Also, the keyboard and mouse have to be pretty close to the receiver, and the receiver need to be almost completely in a direct visual line with the devices on these MS keyboard desktop sets. I had a lot of trouble with mine until I put the receiver within 1-1/2 to 2 feet of the keyboard and mouse. Next time buy a logitech top-of-the-line set and you will not have this kind of trouble. I no longer have trouble with my 6000 desktop set, though, just in case you are wondering. I use the Logitech set on my newer computer and the 6000 on the XP .
Hope this helps.

Only a few hours after inserting a new battery (tried two different packs of NEW batteries) into my Microsoft 6000 wireless mouse, the red light on top comes on.

I use rechargeable batteries rated at 3200MAh and have been operating for 2 months now.

If you can't get hold of them, try fresh Alkaline batteries like Duracell.

pls. vote for better service... thank you

Goo0dness, Had this myself just last week. Fortunately I had the old keyboard and mouse and plugged it in to get access. I deleted the wireless keyboard from device manager. rebooted the machine, quickly changed the mouse and keyboard back to the wireless one and it all came back on. saved me buying a new one. Hmm, sounds like a electrical fault but it could be a virus so scan your computer just in case.

It means, your batteries are dead so need to be replaced on keyboard once you replace those the you got to turn it on and once lights comes up then you to to press wireless button for 5 seconds.
once it starts blinking then you got to press wireless button of receiver (bluetooth stack) and once it blinks then your keyboard should be detected automatically.

please post back if any thing changes and vote all answers.

Good Luck.

Laser 6000v2.0 keyboard does not type anymore

did you make sure you resynced the mouse and/or keyboard to the wireless receiver. usually you do this by holding down the button on the receiver until the light starts flashing then you press the button on the bottom of the mouse/keyboard until the flashin stops or changes. you have to repeat with each additional device.

hope this helped.
please rate well

Keyboard does not type brand new batteries

look for a little hole on the keyboard, the button is the size of a pin head, it is for resetting the keyboard after you put in a new battery. when you find the reset switch the keyboard light will work and the startup bar will show it has found a new device.

Microsoft Wireless Laser keyboard 6000 v2.0

Try going to Control Panel, then click on keyboard and Keyboard Properties will come up. Then click on Key Settings and then click on Restore Defaults. Hopefully that will do it. Had a similar problem with an MS 4000 KB.
