SetupAPI has stopped running

unfortunately the Logitech webpage states, that the webcam wont run under Vista and I assume, they meant Windows 7 as well. But you can try to download xp software and run it:

If there is any error message stating that your OS is not supported, it could be that a manual driver installation of the xp driver could work.

I do not know about a virus, but it is sometimes the operating system is wrong for the driver.

What operating system do you have, its service pack, and the driver software (what was the source of the driver?).

I have the same problem with my philips spc620nc . Have tried philips support. no response. Almost 1 year since first inquiry.

The installation may be corrupted, Try downloading the software and install it.
If the webcam is logitech you can download from the below link.

If you are running windows vista please follow these instructions carefully.

1. Click on "Start".
2. Click on "All Programs".
3. Click on "Accessories".
4. Right click on the Command Prompt, select "run as administrator".
5. At the prompt, type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll".
6. You will now get a message box saying "vbscript.dll" has been registered.
7. Reinstall QuickCam

Ok, I got an answer from Daniel Wright, who has SP 2 and this is what he says:
"The solution is easy, go to your Petz 5 installation folder and rename setupapi.dll to something like setupapi.bak - Petz 5 will now load without any problems.
The problem only effects Petz 5 as Petz 4 doesn't include that file, and providing the game is patched it continues to run just fine on XP SP2."
