We need to know what file is missing and does it boot at all, you may be able to run SFC from the command prompt to repair itself, if it boots up;

Message appears that DTLR is missing.

I assume the error is mising NTLDR. If this correct, then you can boot to the Windows CD and copy the NTLDR file from the i386 folder to the Windows folder. if this does not work, you'll need to repair or reinstall Windows to fix the it

Trying to install HP c4280 printer to Dell OPTIPLEX GX620 computer w/ XP PRO. Asking for sRCB.ICM from XP CD ROM Can not locate the sRGB file. Suggestions???

The file might be located on the Dell system disk.
You can also look in c:\windows\system, c:\windows\inf, c:\windows\system32, or in the I386 directory which may be directly under c:\windows
I checked some sources and saw this problem listed only twice--once for Win98.
The name of the file you are looking for is probably SRGB..ICM. I found it on my Win XP system here: C:\windows\Driver Cache\I386\driver.cab

How to replace battery for a Latitude X1

The Dell Latitude X1 laptop has a 53 WHr 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery. Your safest bet is to purchase a replacement battery from Dell directly, in order to avoid confusion and mismatched parts. The Dell Part number for your battery is Dell Part# : 312-0342. The Manufacturer Part# : Y6457. The cost is 135.99 from Dell directly. While you may be able to find a battery elsewhere for cheaper, it is not recommended.

Good Luck,

First go to recovery console. try this command after the command prompt. CD system32\drivers\ Enter Last line should be: C:\windows\system32\drivers> then... Expand the file from the CD. expand d:\i386\ntfs.in_ or expand d:\i386\ntfs.sy_ if this doesnt work try to run CHKDSK /R. if you get any error while running checkdisk repair you will need a hard drive replacement.
