Yes, I did a channel scan. but no signal.

I connected the dvd player as component, AV1, AV2 and S-Video1 and S-Video2. Picture came up when I connected as AV1 and AV2 but no sound.

    Thanks for helping me...

    Check, Akai LCT 2060.

Do the channel scan from the menu and tell us how the dvd player is connected.

What brand and model is the TV?

Have you done a channel scan from the menu?

How do you have your dvd player connected?

Looks like someone sold you a unit only partially working.

You may need to have the main board replaced, which is likely why the previous owner sold it.

My solution would be: Buy an inexpensive surround system and a VCR, Use the VCR as your tuner, and plug the audio output from the VCR into your surround system.

This way you will have a tuner (the VCR), and sound through the surround amplifier. You can also plug the audio output from your DVD player direct into the surround amplifier. This solution would likely run you less than half the cost of replacing the main board in the TV.

Hi, I bought this tv at thrift shop last week. No instruction manual available. I got cable from Time Warner. Got the cable signal and got tv working. 3 days later no cable. I don't know how to...

If using a cable box then you want to set the TV to channel 3 or 4 as the cable box will output to one of those. If no cable box then its possible the TV's tuner is bad or your cable company only transmits in digital form requiring a cable box since this TV only has an analog tuner

You need to go into on screen TV tuner/channel scanning setup page and change the signal source from CABLE to ANTENNA so it will scan again to pick up off the air signals. Please read the TV user manual for more details.

My Brand New 40" westing

To get HD channel form your cable TV without using the cable provider HD tuner box but using your TV Clear QAM tuner (your TV has Clear QAM tuner, my TV also has QAM tuner so I do not have to use the cabel box, but my COMCAST does not provide may Clear QAM signals like they use to) to get the unscrambled HD, the cable provider must provide those unscrambled Clear QAMsignals for your TV to pick up the signalS.

Two Samsung LA40A450's, purchased within days of eachother, located in two different houses. Last few weeks both families get no sound when switching channels to ABC. Have to reselect ABC maybe a couple...

If you are receiving the signal from the same cable service provider rather than through an antenna, I would suspect the cable service is having a problem with its retransmission of the ABC channel in that suburb. I don't know if Australia is still broadcasting analog TV signals or if ABC is digital, but if the latter, perhaps the receivers are having trouble decoding the sound format identifier information. This could be something as subtle as a timing tolerance issue or as crude as noise or low signal level on the cable that has the receivers operating at the margin of sensitivity.

if the display says cable, it won't get over the air signal. switch the source to antenna, hook up an antenna and go through auto program sequence.

I JUST GOT A D52W20 HD TV.I SCREWED THE CABLE CONNECTION TO THE ANTENA INPUT. THE ONLY STATIONS I GET ARE LOCAL CHANNELS BUT NO CABLE CHANNELS. WHAT DO I HAVE TO SET ON THE TV OR WHAT DO I HAVE TO PRESS ON...

Before you bought your new TV, was the cable connected to an older TV, and was it working?
When you say you screwed the cable connection to the antenna input, did the cable come directly from the wall, or did it go through a cable box first. If it came through the wall without a cable box, it's possible it's not an active cable account, and you're only getting over the air signals for your local channels (and nothing through the cable). Or, your cable signal might have been analog only, and with the transition this week to digital TV, maybe you're no longer getting the channels broadcast properly.
If you are a cable subscriber, then this problem should be reported to the cable company, and they can do further testing to see what's wrong with your signal.

Can't get digital channels on 37

Bob,

Are you certain you've connectet the antenna coaxial cable correctly?

There's 2 of them on this TV, one for digital and one for analog/cable connections, make sure you're connected to the correct input for digital TV.

If you're certain you've got it connected correctly then your problem is going to most likely be in the TV tuner board inside the TV.

Good Luck!

NO sound and NO cable signals

Is your tv connected to your cable box through HDMI, AV, or component?
_____________________________

If its through HDMI then your cable carrier needs to load updated frimware in your box to communicate properly with your 2005 tv. The firmware loaded in your cable box needs to be "reverse compatible" for first generation HDMI from your 2005 tv. If your using AV or component hook-up and there's no sound then re-check all of your audio settings within the tv's menu. Also recheck the cable-wire your using and proper input/output ports.

ON your dvd player, is your tv connected through component, AV(rca) or HDMI?

If its through "component" then you need an extra audio cable to and from the DVD and tv.
