I have a 722 DVR receiver and since January my picture freezes a couple of times a day, maybe more. We have had numerous service calls and they have replaced just about everything. We've even had our receiver replaced a couple of times but the problem is still there. I know for a fact that other people are also having this problem and I am tired of dealing with it. Why won't Dish address this issue and take care of business?

Are you still having the problem with the freezing on your 722 receiver? Since you stated that several techs have been out to fix this problem, I can only assume they checked the alignment of you dish to make sure it is picking up the strongest possible signal. Another possible solution would be to make sure it has the current software download. I hope this helps.

It isn't just the 722K. The problem exists in VIP622 as well and I have four receivers in three weeks and all, including the new 722K do the same thing. I have moved the plug to a different socket and had a technician come who has seen the problem and nothing solves the problem. It happens most times at 5:20 p.m. daily. It drives me crazy and obviously there is some kind of software problem that Dish refuses to address or doesn't know how to address.

I have tried to disable the inactivity time out using "updates." After I went through that procedure, my receiver still shut itself off in the AM. Why?

The updates screen shows two different options:

1) Inactivity time out. You CAN disable this feature.

2) Updates. You CAN NOT disable this feature. The receiver must shut down and download a new Program Guide and software (if needed) once each day. You CAN change when this happens, so choose a time that is most convenient to you. If you are watching TV at the time it needs to do this, you can select not to have it download, but eventually, the receiver will shut down to do its download anyway.

PS-if you are a commercial customer (your receiver provides programming to a TV or sound system in view/hearing of customers of your business) you can call customer service to have this feature disabled, but it can only be disabled for commercial customers, and the customer service you reach as a residential customer will have no idea what I'm talking about. Do not pretend to be a commercial customer if you are not, your bill will be much different, and not in your favor, and there will be no way of reversing it.

My dish network reciever vip622 dvr fan runs all the time. Is this normal

I have the same issue and find it unbelievable that the Dish Network DVR is so noisy. It's virtually a deal killer, except now I have the damn dish on my roof. Why can't Dish commission a better quality product?

For the past couple of days, every show our DVR has recorded freezes a couple of minutes into playing it and the DVR reboots itself. This always occurs at the exact same time on that show. We don't have...

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. Since the DVR is the only thing having the freezing issue, it sounds like it maybe a hard drive issue. I would recommend resetting the receiver. Unplug it from the power supply for 10 seconds and then let the receiver reboot itself. If you are still having this issue, I would recommend calling Dish Network and we will need to replace the receiver. Hard Drive issues do not resolve themselves and only get worse over time. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Dish 722ViP questions

You sure describe a bad receiver to me. Press MENU-6-1-3 and select details. Scroll down the page and you will see a section of VALUES 1-9 all should be zeroed except 7 which should not be over 4 and 8 at 1. If yours reads anything greater you will need it replaced.

Call in and ask for a Field Service Manager, Installation Manager or Quality Assurance Specialist to come to your home due to unresolved issues. To ensure you get a response e-mail or call the corporate office describing your situation. Do not call the toll free number for the corporate office as you will not get them.

We are unable to give numbers out so you may need to do some research of your own.

I have a ViP 722. It has no rf output for TV1, just the hookup for TV2. The multi RCA hookup for HD. HD is not as important to me as is a clean picture and audio on my TV. No matter how I do it, I get a...

Okay I am not positive I have this right as far as the configuration of the system but I will give it a shot. If you run the 722 to the tv using rca's you get the hum. I assume this as there are no inputs on a dish 722 receiver. I can suggest one possible solution which is to buy an rf modulator. It will convert the signal from rca to coax so you can connect as you wish. There are several types out there so ensure you get the one that converts from rca to coax. I would suggest the following configuration: Remove all connections from tv and hook 722 up via rca's to rca input 1 on the tv, check for hum. If it is present now you need a new 722 as it is passing to much power thru the connection. If there is no hum connect your cable and tivo to the tv via whatever inputs you have remaining. Lastly connect the DVD player to another input that is free. You will have to system through your inputs to view the three sources but should not have the hum. I hope this solves your issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

DVR Freezing up

Most likely it's your hard drive going bad. You can replace it and not junk the unit.
