If otherwise the camera is taking pictures and working OK, then we can assume that the lens mecchanism has jammed in and needs a mechanical reset. Use good tools to remove carefully. Keep the entire ecrew and remove , make notes of the screw, position if needed. get access to the front hood and look for faulty mountings or alignment issues.Look at the motor on the lens mechanism remove and use a tool to roll the gear to see if the lens moves in/out. if not check for locked dirt or misalignment. Set accordingly. It may require a lot of patience to sit with a proper lighting and look into this issue. Hope you get this right, good luck.

Lense doesn't retract

Common faults for this:

The lens motor is defective, lens gears jammed. Fix is lens unit replacement.

The lens servo drive circuit is not functioning. Fix is to replace the circuit board that contains the lens servo control circuits.

The connector assembly between the lens is not making proper contact, or the lens wire assembly is defective. Fix is replacement of the cable and connectors if applicable in the particular model. If the connectors on the circuit board or lens are defective, then the appropriate unit must be replaced.

No power is going to the lens unit, and or the lens servo circuit. Fix is replacement of the drive circuit board, or the power inverter if it uses a separate feed for the lens only.

Generally, with these low cost cameras they generally do not pay to service out of warranty. The service cost can approach the cost of replacing the camera.

Common causes of failures in these cameras is from water (getting wet), or dropping, or rough usage.

When I turn my DMC-TZ3 on, the lens open's up then shut'soff then open's again then shut's off again and a message appears saying shut camera off and try again, will not stay open why is...

A recycling lens is usually caused by either a low or worn out battery (how old is your battery? If more than a couple years, it would be definitely time for a new one. Here's a selection.). If a new battery doesn't help (but it really does sound like you need a new battery), the next problem that could cause this is a lens error. Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

My Camera just lost power, the lens is still stuck out, the battery was full when i used it, I also tried plugging in the charger now to see if it will restore power but it hasn't.. What should I do?

hi
usually camera doesn't lose power with lens stuck out, there must be external cause. But you should check first battery which actually is good or not.(using multimeter or to different camera that use same battery.) second with good battery is any light blinks momentarily. If any light blink then cause come from lens most case. But nothing happen then main pcb or power control pcb is the problem. Good luck with you!

Hi, just wondering if I should try an dismantle my 85mm 1.8 Nikon lens as the focus ring has slowly but surely stiffened up to the point it will no longer rotate- AT ALL! No budging. My brother tried to...

If you have a lens collimator and other equipment required to ensure the proper alignment of the lens elements when you reassemble the lens, then go for it. If you don't have the gear needed to reassemble the lens properly, then I strongly suggest taking the lens to a good camera shop and have a trained professional do a clean-lube-adjust. It won't do you much good to have a focusing ring that turns if the lens elements are out of alignment so it doesn't focus properly.

I just had my camera closed and in a bag, unfortunately the bag had some sand in it from the beach, and now I'm getting the lens problem warning sign! Does interaction with sand while the camera is...

Really bad news.
The sand can caus lens and internal problems since there are moving parts which have grease on them.
Repair is recommended.
You can sell the camera on a site such as Ebay as a used for parts camera.
You can consider repair.
Cost will be a determining factor here.

My camera fell down and now the len doesn`t come out properly can it be fixed

My friend had that hapin, the lens got stuck and the camera wouldn't turn on. I first asked if she still had warrenty on it. When she told me the warrenty was probebly long over, we concluded that there would be nothing to lose by try ing to fix it.

I carefully forced the zoom back by hand, after that it worked fine again.

The f number is constantly showing 95 and i can't change it. the pictures are coming black. sometimes there is no f number, instead of it, a sign like f-- is showing. what to do????

Hello,

This error means the lens is not connecting properly.

Remove the lens and give the contacts (silver pins) a quick clean. Also wipe the camera body contacts.

This should fix it.

I have c1 error

c1 error is caused by Dirt /dust in the lens and lens gear box ( this drives zooming only ) preventing optimum functioning. Lens cannot properly come on line ( shutter and diaphragh mechanism then do not come on line ) and the camera switches off. Solution : is ether replace lens unit or dismantle lens to clean out ( from gear box and the helicoil of the lens ).
