Okay I hold my hand up; I'm stupid and shouldn't be left in charge of expensive electronics - I have accidentally re-formatted my Sony Bean from My Computer in Windows XP Pro. Now when I upload tunes to it using Sonic Stage they all appear to go to the player but when I disconnect it it tells me "Format Error" and then "Network Walkman" When I press any button it just repeats "Format Error" and goes back to showing "Network Walkman". It won't play any of the music. I have tried pressing the reset button under the flap but to no avail. Have I screwed the firmware on the bean and if so how do I restore it? Can anybody help?
I have the solution. Push the menu button (the one ne with the file folder) until "search" is displayed. push the down arrow key on the jog button,10 times, until "advanced menu" is displayed. Pushe the right button on the jog until "format" is displayed. Use the jog buttons until "format ok" is displayed. Then push the play button and the problem is sorted. Good luck.
