Check you have not got the scroll lock on. look for this key on the keyboard and press it to see if the problem goes away. There is on most keyboards/laptops a led indicator to tell you if it is on.

What you need is not just the driver but the "Synaptics" software. This software enables gestures for laptop touch pads including scrolling. They are located here: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

1.Confirm the Gateway notebook is not powered off or in standby mode. Tap the power button to turn on or wake the computer.

whats your ram speed? if it reach to 1GB then you can install. but think twice coz' it will slow down your lapto.

You'll be fine. If you have been on crucial you know then whether the modules need to be in matched pairs, which is what it looks like you are doing. The only limitations on RAM are when you go to 4GB using 32-bit processing. It will most likely not all show. But with 2.5GB, you should be humming along quite nicely.
