The boots on the plugs don't want to come off. Is it a straight pull off or is there a trick to it? I'm trying to not break things as I go.

Well its a lil tricky but the best thing to do is to rotate the boot to the left about 180 degrees then let it go then to the right about 180 degrees do this till it turns free of the plug then rock and pull on it. any attempt to pull on it before the boot frees off of the plug will surely break it

I find if you take the end off the coil first it makes it easier to get the spark plug end off for some reason. It pulls off straight but some twisting to break the seal does help.

I'm not sure, but I believe they just pull straight off. Try wiggling back and forth as your pull it off. But, you do need to pull it hard to get it to come off, it will not just slide off.

How Change Spark Plugs on a hummer the leads wont come off is there trick to it or just brute force need

Use a spark plug boot tool. It will keep you from accidentaly seperating the plug wires from the boot. Make sure to pull just the boot and not the wire.

I am trying to install factory cross bars on my 2010 Buick enclave. The first step of the directions is to remove the endcaps from the siderails. I don't know how to get those off and am scared if I...

They are definitely tricky. GM says to use a flat-bladed tool. I would suggest using a pocket screwdriver or plastic trim stick. Once you can get under the end cap with the screwdriver (or equivalent), the key is to pry up. It may feel like it's breaking, but spring tension of the clips is the only thing holding them down. Go slow and take your time.

How do I remove the shifter from the transmission on a 1991 ford f150 4.9 liter, manual transmission

josh zehnie, The first thing you have to do is pull the carpet away from the shifter boot. You will see a screw on each corner of the boot that have to be removed. Lift the shifter boot and the gasket under it straight up as far as possible. You will now see the top of the transmission where the shifter connects. Again you will four bolts holding the plate that the shifter goes through. Remove these bolts, which are usually allen key type heads, and gently pull the shifter straight up being careful that you don't drop the plastic bushings into the transmission that are on each side of the bottom of the shifter. Reassembly is just as easy. Just be careful that you get the bushings back in place. Test the shifter before you replace the upper boot. Good luck with this.

Pull straight out to remove and push straight in the install. They have a self clipping mechanism in the socket which can be pretty stiff sometimes.

Most flasher relays simply plug in to a plastic base using two or three spade connectors. You should be able to simply pull it straight outwards to remove it. It should not be very tight.

Spark Plug Wire Removal

normal spark plug wires just pull off. thet might have a clip and groove type connection. if you've tried to pull it off, and it seems like it's stuck. it is. try twisting the boot to break the surface tension between the rubber boot and the spark plug porcelain. pull straight out. use a pair of pliers. if the connector come off the wire, and the plugs are recessed, use needle nose to pull the connector off. you can also pierce the boot with an awl to vent air into the boot to relieve vacuum.

What's the best way to remove plug wires from a 3.1 v6? I don't want pull too hard for fear of breaking them.I pulling on the boot.

Hello! You will want to grab the wire boot as close to the end as possible and twist them until they "break" free, then you can pull them straight out by the boot, hopefully without tearing them, if you tear a boot, I'd replace the wires. Also, if they are the original wires and your car has 100K+ miles, it would be worthwhile to just go ahead and replace the wires. Be sure to use some dielectric grease when you install the new wires, or if you reinstall the old ones.

Hope this helps and good luck!
