Unlocking A friend of mine sent me a sony ericsson with O2 sim card when i changed the sim card to my local sim card doesnot work, can you help so that it works with local subscriber? please help.

What you need is the unique network unlock code that should be entered on the phone.

Hi this model cannot be unlocked for free, it IS currently locked on a network provider, you can go to your local phone shop to get it unlocked.

You need to purchase a network unlock code from '3'. This will enable you to put any sim in the handset.
Local markets somtimes do a phone unlock service too.

you can unlock your mobile online or take it to a mobile service center or technician and have it unlock there

How old is your current SIM-card ? There was a change in operating-voltage on the SIM-cards and its a known issue that the P990i wont accept "older" cards. Contact your provider and get a newer card. You could perhaps try one of your friends SIM-cards in your phone, before ordering a new one, if the card is newer than the one you have.
