Ive put music from my computer onto mp3 player and the songs that were ripped from cd dont work ''format error'' Is there any way of making songs that were originally ripped from cd work on my mp3

First you need music to put on the CD. You can put your own music CD in the drive and run Windows Media Player and rip them to your hard drive (copies them). After you get all the songs you want onto your hard drive, you can make an audio CD if you ripped the songs as WAV files (this CD can be played in most CD players) or you can make an MP3 CD if you ripped the songs as mp3 files (this CD can only be played in CD players that support the MP3 standard). To make the audio CD or MP3 CD, just download the free program called BurnAware from the internet and run it. Insert a blank recordable CD in your computer, choose Audio CD or MP3 CD, then choose the songs you want and burn the CD. That's it.

1. Why do i get format error when i put songs from a cd on the eclipse?
= This is probably because the format that your songs are currently in is not supported by your device. Supported devices on the Mach Speed Eclipse 180 MP3 player are: mp3, wav, and wma. If your music is for example filename.cda, it won't be able to play because of the file format being .cda.


2. I also see the song on the eclipse but it says drm protected and will not play the song.
= When ripping your music, check your ripping options in whichever ripping software you are using that protecting music files is off, this may be the reason why your music cannot play - it may be protected to only play on the computer that ripped(recorded or duplicated) the song.

1. Insert the CD into the computer.
2. Open Windows Media Player.
3. Click the "Rip" button at the top of the audio program. Then, click the arrow directly underneath this arrow. Several options will appear. Choose "Format." More options will appear. Select "Mp3."
4. Click the box found to the right of the "Album" heading near the top of the program. Once you do, every box to the left of the songs on the CD will be selected.
5. Choose "Start Rip" at the bottom of the program. The CD will be saved onto the computer as MP3 files and added to the Windows Media Player library.
6. Plug the MP3 player into the computer.
7. Click the "Sync" button to the right of the "Rip" button at the top of Windows Media Player.
8. Select "Songs" under "Library" in the left column of the software program.
9. Locate the songs on the CD you wish to add to the MP3 player. Select those songs and drag them over to the "Burn List" column on the right side of the media player.
10. Click "Start Sync" at the bottom of the "Burn List" column. The CD will be placed onto the MP3 player.

1) Sign up for an online music service, or
2) Load songs directly from a CD

When choosing an online music service, find one that only gives you the songs in Mp3 format - all other formats will be either incompatible with your player or will give you headaches down the road. The other value of getting an mp3-only service is that you will be able to use the songs later if you decide to let your music service subscription lapse. Rhapsody has an Mp3 Only service, but be very cautious - Rhapsody has about 6 different subscription levels, and only one of them is an Mp3 Only service. There used to be dozens of other choices besides Rhapsody, but not anymore - most other major music service either folded, went with a DRM-protected WMA format, or went with an AAC format (iTunes).

To load songs directly from a CD, use Windows Media Player. Open Windows Media Player 11 --> run your mouse over the Rip tab --> click on the arrow that appears under the Rip tab --> Select "Format" --> change to mp3. Then put your CD in the computer's CD drive and click on the Rip tab -> it will convert the songs on your CD to mp3 format so that you can load the songs onto your mp3 player.

To adjust the copy protection setting on your ripped music files,

1. Open the Tools tab at the top of your Windows Media Player.
2. Select Options and then select the Rip Music tab.
3. Under this menu, you will be able to choose the type of music file as well as the quality with which you would like to save the music.
4. Make sure the box next to Copy protect music is left unchecked.

Your GPX player has the ability to play music files in both the MP3 and WMA format. Make sure to use MTP when transferring copy-protected WMA files.

"File Format Not Supported" - SA6045/37 The file format not supported message means that the type of file you are trying to load into the GoGear is not compatible with the GoGear. There are no GoGear's that are compatible with iTunes. As far as WMA files are concerned, the GoGear's vary wildly. If the WMA file has a bit rate higher than 192 kbps (which is quite common nowadays), it will not work. If you actually have an SA6045, then make sure the license on the WMA file has "transfer rights," or that the license has not expired. You can check this by right-clicking on the song, selecting Properties, and looking at the tab that says "license" or "digital rights management." 
If you find that you are using an incompatible format, convert the songs to mp3 format. If the songs came from CD, use Windows Media Player to re-rip the songs in Mp3 format. You can do this in Windows Media Player 11 by  higlighting the "Rip" tab, pulling down the drop down-menu by clicking on the little tiny arrow that appears underneth the word "rip," and selecting "format", and then "mp3".

Use Windows Media Player to rip the songs into Mp3 format - make sure you select mp3 in the Rip options. Real Player rips songs from CD into the wrong format.
