Hi Iv'e just bought a panasonic sc-pt 450 home theatre system and cannot get any sound when watching tv programmes my set up is a TH50PZ70B tv set SC-PT450 home theatre system and sky satelite the 450 is conneted via HDMI cable to the tv set on HDMI 2 socket and sky is connected to tv with a scart socket to AV1. Pictures are all ok it is just the sound Iv'e done a test on the speakers and they are all working but I watched a dvd and there was only sound coming from the front speakers not the rear and the dvd was recorded in 5.1 surround dolby digital I have turned on every thing it says in the manual but getting very frustrated as the instructions do not seem very easy to use the viera link seems to be working ok and I have changed the sound setting from tv to theatre on the link but that did not work either I have tried changing all the outputs it says in the manual but I am not very technical minded so you may have to explain in latmans terms can you help with any suggestions regards Brian

I see your point but I was wondering if I have not made the right connetions thanks for your advice regards Brian

Hi ginko thanks for your reply I have tried the settings you have reccomended, on the latter one I don't get any picture at all I can only think It has got something to do with the setup as I said I am not the most technically minded and have looked at the menus for tv and theatre system and cannot find anything for audio in or out. Only on the viera link does it say audio, tv or home theatre it works on tv but nothing on theatre do I have to have this optical or coaxial lead, the sales person in the shop said the only connection I needed was the HDMI cable regards Brian

The system should work even with your current connection, after you set audio for hdmi input/output properly, but you are still using a bad connection setting.
To have HDMI connection working you need to check audio output settings on TV menu, and confirm HDMI settings on the home theater, refer to page 22 on SC-PT450 manual.
To build a 5.1 Digital connection you should connect sky box or receiver to your DVD, and then the dvd player directly to your TV using the HDMI input. This will give you the best possible picture because the signal is totally digital. You will need to go into the DVD player/sky box setup menu to select the proper audio-out method for this connection, and then SC-PT450 will be receiving 5.1 surround.

If you want 5.1 then you need to go optical or coaxal from the dvd player to the receiver. the 5.1 is not goin through the hdmi cable and back through the scart socket.

the sales people dont know, most of the time they just want to sale it to you so they say what they know and that is it will work how they say, but you will need to use 1 rca plug if you have this jacks and you already prob have one, you can use yellow red or white, it does not matter. if you only have matching optical then you will need to go optical. once you get it setup. if you dont get sound then you will need to select optical in as your audio selection on that input mode.

sometimes tv doen't design audio pass through for stuff like this. for digital, but if your tv has a digital output jack it may not be true 5.1 enless you come straigh from dvd to sournd.

I have a panasonic SC-pt90 home theatre & cannot get sound from my Toshiba SL738B tv through my speakers. Connection is through a HDMI cable

Ideally, which way is sound traveling in an A/V scenario? I believe the best audio should always make its first stop at the Hi-Fi; and the best Video from each source should make its first (perhaps ONLY) stop at the TV/Monitor.

The TV-programming probably comes from a Cable- or Sat Box, which is itself an audio component with digital and analog outputs. Treat it like any other high-end audio source and run it straight to the SC-PT90.

The TV/monitor only NEEDS high-end video from everything and minimal viedo from the recever for management. Maybe analog audio from the cable box for watching the news.

Try running the audio from each video source (NOT the TV, which is an output, not a source) to the HTR digitally so you'll get the best mutichannel sound possible. Then you can turn the TV speakers (assuming it has them) off for hi-end watching.

I just bought a dvd home theater system sc-pt760 and i have a 42 inch LG flat screen and the sound wount work on AUX for the TV

Are you using the HDMI connection on both units, the SC-PT760 does have a HDMI input Yes/NO ? If not then it has HDMI output to the LG for HD Picture. What I would do if no HDMI INPUT to the SC-PT760 is available, run out of the TV with the Digital connection into the SC-PT760 Digital Audio in, assign the input as tv and you shoild get TV audio out of your home theatre, you could also use the analog connection audio out of the tv to the home theatre but this would not yield a dolby digital sound.

Panasonic SC PT660 Theater w Samsung Plasma -No sound w/Aux Input

My best advice is to do a factory reset on the system and then set it up again like you did when you first installed it. Unless your daughter physically damaged cables, the system should work OK. It's no use trying to work out what she disconnected as that will take even longer than a factory reset.

Hi We have just bought a Panasonic Theatre Surround System SC-PCT560 and can only get it to work when a DVD is playing. We cannot get it to work with Sky or normal TV. Any ideas? Thanks, Julia

Hi,
You can have TV sound from your home theater system.
Download User Manual of SCPCT560 from Panasonic Support and go to page-7 for hook up procedure of TV sound out from home theater.
Thank you.

Panasonic SC-PT850w sound cuts out

Are you watching 10HD off the air from an antenna? You are losing video and audio intermittently, which may just be indicative of a weak signal. Does your TV have a signal meter?

Panasonic home Theatre

You need to obtain audio leads and connect from home theatre directly to audio input in back of tv - be careful as there are normally 2 in back of tv
